Tipping Independent Photographer

I would wait until you receive your photos to tip. What if you hate the pictures or, heaven forbid, don't receive them at all?

I actually just found this in an article elsewhere on WW "If a photographer or videographer owns their business, no tip is necessary." So I guess that settles that.

Yeah you don't have to tip a business owner. While the gesture is nice, it's not necessary. If you reaaally wanted to, I agree to wait after you get the photos. We aren't tipping ours. Ours are sister in laws that own the business together.

Hey Liz! If you are really impressed with the work your photographer did and you seriously love the photos you get from him, then tipping would be a great way to show your appreciation for his hard work. As the pps mentioned, I would tip after you have recieved your photos, when you are giving him the remainder of his payment.
