The easiest way is to have a set amount that is automatically transferred into a savings account which doesn't have a linked card attached to it, so you can't easily get the money back out.

$20 a week is $1000 in a year, for example.

Another option is to always save a particular type of cash note whenever you get it in your change. Whether it's $5, 10 or 20, take them out of your change and put them into a separate place. In the short term it's not too noticeable, but will add up over time!

We did a monthly contribution to a joint savings account that is only used for the wedding/honeymoon. We each contribute a set amount each month. Also, anything extra we have received this year goes to that account such as birthday money, tax returns, stimulus checks, etc. we reached our goal way faster than we ever thought we would.

I agree with both of the above comments! Determine how much you can save per week (or per paycheck or per month or whatever time frame is easiest for you to manage), and then set that into a separate account. Any time you get unexpected cash (birthday/Christmas gift, tax returns, work bonus money, etc), also consider setting aside a portion of that money as well.

Depending on what you do for work for your main job, you could pick up a 2nd part time job a couple of days a week and set all that money aside for the wedding. When I was in grad school I wanted to go to Disney and get an annual pass. So I drive for Lyft for a Month Or so and made about $400 to put towards it. You can do doordash or something similar where you decide when you want to work.

I picked up a part time second job bartending. I work about 40 hours a month doing this and make around $1000 extra a month to put into savings.

Create a budget. See what areas you can save by cutting back such as groceries, eating out, canceling any unused subscriptions, no shopping unless absolutely necessary, etc.

Ways to make extra income: babysitting, mowing someone's lawn, shoveling snow out of someone's driveway, raking up leaves in someone's yard, do uber or lyft, do uber eats (etc.), pick up a part time job if you have the time, or even sell some of your stuff.

Tips to save in your everyday life or cost savers for the wedding?

For your every day life, start a savings account if you don’t already have one. Set a certain amount aside from each paycheck.
Cook at home as much as possible. Make coffee at home to take with you. Same with lunches when possible. Figure out what subscription services you don’t pay attention to and can cancel. Carpool or take public transportation to and from work.

My husband and i did side gigs that were enough for the wedding - that way we didn't even touch our savings.
