Tmi... but bikini wax?

Mrs. Barton, on January 25, 2017 at 10:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 69

Sorry for 2 posts in one day. But since there's lots of ladies on this app I thought I'd ask. I want to get a bikini wax before my wedding for my FH. He likes the hedge bare, and to be honest my shaving skills suck. Have any of you ladies had one done? Is it worth it? Should I do it a few days before? I'm clueless

I love them. Get it done a month or so before to see how you react to it and then do it the day before.

You need to start doing it a few months before so you can see how you react to it and give your body time to get used to it. Try a European Wax Center if you have one near you.

Definitely do it a few times before the wedding. First time I did it I had to go to the dermatologist afterwards. I will say my skin is super sensitive though.

Yes it's worth it. Choose a clean and reputable salon and they will give you all the information you need on how to care for yourself before/after your wax. You need to allow your body time to get used to it and see how you may react, all skin is different. So get one some time before the wedding!

I have a European wax center right down the road from me. How long do I need to not shave to get it done? I can imagine short hair being ripped out really hurts lol

Oh and take some sort of pain reliever a bit before your appointment.

Yep I always get Brazilian waxes. It's helps out a lot. Definitely start a few months before so you can get use to it, as well as it won't be as sore. But make sure you consistently get it done. I try to go 3/4 weeks after my appointment so there is less hair and not much to wax. You will enjoy it after its done. I love it and will never go back to shaving again lol

You have to let it grow about a inch, maybe 2...especially if it's your first time. I agree with doing it a few times before your wedding. European wax all the way.

Loyal Brazilian fan here. European wax centers are most reliable between locations. They usually recommend 2 weeks or at least a quarter inch long hair. Ibuprofen will make u bleed a little more easily, but some people don't bleed at all. (It's like itty bitty little needlepoint size blood even if you do bleed so don't freak out lol) definitely try it out before the wedding though. Takes about 4-6 weeks between waxes until you are waxable again depending how fast your hair grows

1/4in of hair for waxing!!! I am a licensed cosmetologist. Back in high school I drove a friend to a salon to get hers done and they actually told her it wasn't long enough and told her to come back in a few weeks, so the length is no joke. If the hair isn't long enough the wax will just adhere to your skin and that is 100 times more painful!

You ladies are amazing! I've always wanted to but I was scared about how bad it would hurt haha. My wedding is in July so looks like I'm making my appointment tomorrow.

I used to get waxed about once a month and was a fan since I had such a hard time with razor burn. I however started getting bruised. I went back another two times and had the same thing happen. I decided to take a break from it and I don't know if my skin changed from the waxing - but now I can shave with no problems! I will probably do a wax or two (or three!) before my wedding and totally agree with the Advil before and drink lots of water!

Brazilians for LIFEEEE. I love them-- been doing them for years!! I don't take Advil or drink water. My motto is "it's not going to hurt worse than labor."

I'm a Brazilian fan myself. Shaving actually irritates my skin more, because I have to do it more often. Agree with PPs--make the appointment now!

I usually go 4 weeks in between. The thing that I found helps me with ingrowns was to get one of those gloves from the spa section of Target--they're sort of scrubbers? And then use a really gentle unscented soap to clean the area, using the glove. My waxing place sells a really great one.

Omg if you shave and he likes it bare, you should definitely get waxed! Ditto pp to find a European waxing place, and go nuts reading yelp reviews! You want to make sure you get someone good. It hurts like bloody f*ing hell. Take ibuprofen about a half hour before. Some places offer a numbing gel, which I highly recommend. DO NOT GO ON YOUR PERIOD!! It will make it a million times worse. Ideal time is right in the middle of your cycle. I would recommend going at least a week before the date, definitely not a few days. I've had not so good waxes that still hurt 2 days later. Also you shouldn't shave for a certain amount of time before, I'm not sure what because I never shave, but definitely check that out, otherwise they can't really wax effectively. Remember to breathe, and trust me, it will be such a wonderful, smooth result, it will *kind of* make it worth it. And FH will for sure love it.

It's totally worth it. I had it done for the first time over the holidays, and I'm having it done again tomorrow. If you go to The European Wax Center, (they have them all over) your first wax is either complimentary or extremely discounted if you are a resident in the state you are having it done in.
