Tmi... but bikini wax?

Sorry for 2 posts in one day. But since there's lots of ladies on this app I thought I'd ask. I want to get a bikini wax before my wedding for my FH. He likes the hedge bare, and to be honest my shaving skills suck. Have any of you ladies had one done? Is it worth it? Should I do it a few days...

Do it!!! Seriously so worth it! It is painful! But after a few times you get used to it. I would recommend to do it a few months before the wedding just incase. It usually takes about 2-4 days for any redness to go away. But when hair grows back it's much thinner. They say to let it grow back 4-6 weeks for another wax so that way your hair growth is in cycle because if you have shorter hairs it's harder to get them out. Not sure what area you live in but my sister is an esthetician and she recommended me to look up Pretty Kitty and European Wax Center. And do not shave when it starts growing back if you are planning to get waxed again. Hope this helps! Definitely do some research on whatever location you decide to choose.

I get Brazilians monthly. They hurt like hell, but are totally worth it!

I'm with pp, I get the Brazilian every 6-8 weeks at European Wax Center in NoVA.

I recommend doing it now and getting yourself adjusted to it. Then go about a week before the wedding. Good luck

Go to a European Wax Center, they'll have you in and out in about 15 minutes and they usually take walk ins depending on how slow they are that day. You can also make an appointment online for most locations. It will hurt if you've never done it before, not gonna lie. But the pain lasts a few minutes tops so its definitely something you'd be able to survive. I used to go to a private shop and THAT was extremely painful, but EWC I love! Plus you don't have to shave two days later, hair wont start coming back for a few weeks ... major plus!

Love Brazilians! So worth it but as others have said, make sure you get a few of them before wedding so your cha-cha gets used to it! When I was going regularly I went about every 4 weeks.

I agree about European Wax Center. In my experience, they are the best place to go if you're new to waxing in that area!

Someone convinced me to get "sugared" (which is similar to waxing but more trendy right now) about 2 years ago. It was, without a doubt, one of the most horrific experiences of my life. I am still traumatized. The lady was mean and kept being like "why are you flinching?" every time she ripped it off and made me bleed. People tell me the first time is the worst, but I can't imagine ever trying it again. I have friends that like it though. If you have the courage, try it. But go to someone who has good reviews, not a random or you could end up with a traumatized, bleeding lady area!!!!

I go every month. You should start going now so you're used to the process by July.

Definitely do a trial. My very first time I had red skin for about 4 days.

Can I jump in and ask about this too...if you go for the first time, do you usually get red bumps? How long do they last? I was thinking of going for the 1st time 2 weeks before the wedding...good or bad idea?

@Ksera, you have your wedding date private. But previous commenters stated go 3-7 days before the wedding. But alas work backwards from that and schedule monthly appointments until then. My wedding is 8/27, so my final appt. will be 8/21 or so. Before that, I'm going 7/21 and 6/21, and so forth.

Who the hell thinks 1-2 INCHES of growth is acceptable!!!

A grain of rice- you want it to be the length of a grain of rice.

    Being said.

I would NOT go for just a bikini.

That top pubic bone hurts the worst IMHO.

The under carriage hurts- and as Alyssa would say "the butt hole rip" isn't painful at all- it's surprising- the warmth can be a little of an issue if it's to hot- but honestly the worst pull is the top one at the pubic bones. Holy crap.

Also- wear a skirt- it's easier- I went the first time in motorcycle pants- and those are just difficult to get in and out of - skirt/dress equals drop panties- wax- pull dress down- way less awkward.

I love getting waxed- it's so much easier. Yes it hurts- but way better than constantly shaving.

CoffeeNColor is correct- work back wards every 3-4 weeks off your wedding date (and I would go like 2-4 days before your wedding- my first wax made me red and discolored for almost 2 days. But now It's fine in a day.

I' started going end of june? for my September wedding. Best decision ever.

Ok thanks ladies! i have 29 days until my wedding (yeah the private thing is kinda stupid in my profile) and I wanted to go in 2 weeks post-period. So I'd have 2 weeks to recover.

I'd go today/tomorrow- then go a day or two before- 3 weeks is adequate time to recoup and get a second wax.

I've had Brazilians many times. Yes, it hurts a little but it's not horrible. Make sure they use hard wax and not wax with straps of paper.

Get a Brazilian instead of a bikini. It will hurt but it feels way better than shaving afterward. I've been getting Brazilians for 2 years now. About every 6 weeks
