To arch or to not arch?

Seale, on August 26, 2016 at 11:29 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

So, I've been scouring Pinterest for a simple, inexpensive DIY wedding arch or backdrop to be married in front of and none are really catching my eye. Did anyone forgo (or planning to forgo) an arch of any sort?

I'm skipping the arch. My wedding ceremony will look like this under a tent without this arch (hold your pinkie over it to get an archless idea). It will just be 2 columns with flowers instead.

I guess it just depends on your ceremony location--do you have pics?

My FH really wanted an arch and I was determined to DIY one. After searching Pinterest forEVER, I couldn't find one that I liked and seemed feasible. At the end of the day, we ended up hiring a florist to do just the arch. Good luck!

We weren't going to but ended up buying a photo backdrop sign from Amazon for $35 and some ribbon from craft store ($100) and are making a ribbon backdrop. Relatively inexpensive and easy DIY

Go for the arch! In my opinion it's worth it!

FH built ours and it's my favorite piece of decor by far! Can't wait to hang the flowers from the florist on it tomorrow!

Another cute idea I've seen is flower curtains! (Strings of flowers hung up)

Making one using some 2x6s, screws, and some fabric.

Okay, so I'm not making it, my dad is, but other than the fabric, everything else he has in his garage. Here's the inspiration, minus the florals on it.

Go to the garden center of either Wal-mart or Lowe's for a pergola or garden arch. You can decorate it for the ceremony, and afterwards, it can be placed in your yard ~ great landscaping focal point, and a remembrance of your wedding day! Smiley smile

Depends on the venue. Do you have a picture?

An arch wouldn't look right at our venue, so we didn't even look at them.

We are skipping the arch. The background is gorgeous without it, and it would be a pain in the butt to get one up to where we're getting married.

We haven't booked it yet but we're fairly certain we want to get married at a museum so I'm not entirely certain what the inside looks like. This is the outside. If there wasn't a high chance of it being bitterly cold, I'd say we could get married between the pillars.

I rented one & my florist made an arrangement for it. We needed a focal point, as our ceremony was in a hotel ballroom.

We are doing surfboards instead of an arch. Although our ceremony is on the beach. ;]

I rented an arch and got a 12ft. garland from my florist to decorate it. The arch rental itself was only $30 so very inexpensive. Do you have a picture of your ceremony space you could share?

Our venue has a gazebo, so an arch isn't necessary. Unless it rains...in which case they provide one and we'll just decorate it similar to the gazebo

Bobbi, if you get married in front of the columns, you don't need an arch.

If you get married inside, pedestals with pots/vases of flowers would look better than an arch.
