Hey all! So originally my wedding was supposed to be January 30th of this year. Because of covid we rescheduled for January 29th 2022. Anyone else 6 months out and freaking out about it getting as bad as it was 6 months ago?

Yes but you won't even know what's going on. I just mailed out my invitations for our October wedding and even then Idk what's gonna happen that could even get postponed again or cancelled. You still have over 5 months before your wedding, I wouldn't make a decision until November-ish maybe even early December. If it's not a destination wedding then your invites can go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, why would you need your RSVP's back 2 months early?

I need to give my venue a final headcount December 15th. 6 weeks before the wedding. So I wanted to have them back by beginning of December to give me a chance to get the money together if I have to pay for more people than my package includes.

Oh wow that seems really early to have a final count for a vendor. Ours didn't need the final count until 10 days before. Well unfortunately we won't know what is going to happen with COVID, it may have to get cancelled even a week before your wedding you never know. If you don't wanna risk that, then maybe consider postponing. We are going forward with ours in October regardless whether its 100 people or 50. We've waited long enough for this celebration.

    Hey wedding date twin!!

We're moving forward as planned. We're just putting on our wedding website to bring a mask if you wish to wear one, and that we'll be providing hand sanitizer upon arrival. We've also requested that guests stay home if they don't feel well.

Don't make any decisions right now, but I'd say make any backup plans in case you do have to postpone.

I'm not waiting anymore. If I have to cancel then I'm just gonna have my parents, his parents, not gonna get all dressed up do my hair and makeup and all that for a 20 minute ceremony, just won't have a photographer, no music, no celebrating. Go to the park in jeans and a t-shirt say the words sign the paper and go home.

I am going to put that on our website. I have a backup plan it's gonna be really simple. His parents, my parents, us and our officiant. We'll go to the park, jeans and t-shirts and get it done and then head home.

Oh wow. Well if that works for you then hey go for it! I definitely wasn't wearing jeans to our minimony lol we still did everything and allowed 35guests. But that was just what we wanted to do and postponed our big celebration to this October. If that's the case you really could just do it in your living room or anywhere!

I'm in Florida and all my family and 90 percent of my friends and in New York. So I wouldn't have really anyone that would be able to be there.

Ohhh understandable. Hopefully you will be able to have the celebration that you want. It's stressful having to keep postponing or switching things at the last minute.

We’re 01/27/22 and are starting to get worried too. We have no plans to postpone but it definitely gives me anxiety not to know what to plan for. We’re hoping by October to have a better idea and make more of a decision on how to proceed. We’re considering offering a live stream, downsizing, and/or requiring vaccines/tests.

The thing about requiring vaccines, which I would be totally okay with asking my guests and I don't think they would mind either, is that the vaccine is not super effective against the Delta variant and not at all against the Lambda variant. Requiring negative tests could be an option though.

Yeah I totally understand and we’re just trying to see what all are options might be. We also have a couple VIPs that are antivax so I don’t know how that would work. I have to do more research, but from what I’ve seen some mobile testing sites where you can test at your venue but it’s expensive.

It might be worth the money. I'll look into that. I didn't even know that was a thing.

Your venue may have a contract clause for acts of force majeure. In this case, they have no control over state pandemic closures. Here you are not at fault and should not be financially penalized. If you cancel though, you will have to reexamine your penalties. I say talk to the venue and ask them leeway on date of your final catering count. Best wishes! You'll still have your groom though so try not to stress over that which you cannot control.

The venue will let me change my date again, which is nice, but if I cancel completely I won't get anything back that I've already paid. I'm thinking about just cancelling entirely and just having our parents meet us at the local park and do the ceremony and then go home.

I don't know what you're reading, but it's incorrect; invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

That is not correct. The vaccines are very effective against the Delta variant (I haven't read enough about Lambda to speak to that yet). While there are some breakthrough infections, which is to be expected, they are extremely effective at preventing severe illness or hospitalization should an infection occur.

You should push back on that. There is no reason that your venue needs a final head count 6 weeks before your wedding. 3 or at most 4 weeks out is normal; 2 weeks is all they really need logistically-speaking.

Everything I have read about the Delta Variant is that even when vaccinated the viral load can be high enough for a vaccinated person to transmit the virus.

I really can't fight it, it's stated in the contract that they want head count 6 weeks before. And any final payments if I have more guests than my package allows have to be in 4 weeks before.
