To chiavari or not to chiavari

I love the look of a chiavari chair (I prefer mahogany). We're doing an outdoor (backyard, lakeside) wedding. I don't care for the white folding wedding chairs.... or their little brown counterparts. Rental cost on chiavari chairs is typically $8/ chair in my area. I've gotten a quote as low as...

Rental cost on chiavari chairs is typically $8/ chair in my area. I've gotten a quote as low as $7.20/ chair and I will probably rent 100.

My funds are running low. (And I still need to book hair & makeup and decide how much I want a florist to do (vs DIY))

Question: should I just go with the $2.50/chair white "wedding" chairs (which I hate!!) or scrimp elsewhere?

Can I get some different perspectives?

I like the contrast of the darker chair for the ceremony & then later against the champagne tablecloths at the reception... am I just being too anal??

My FH hates chiavari chairs. One of the things he was very vocal about was our guests having comfort over appeal. Like other PP say, photos will show the people sitting in them.

I got quotes from decor places and it was $8 a chair including taxes and set up. I'm renting them from my florist and they are $4 including set up and taxes. Try asking your florist if he/she knows anyone that rents Chivari chairs.

This was a cost that was factored in the budget from the get go. If it was between staying in budget and chivari chairs I would be having whatever my venue provided.

My wedding ceremony is outside also.. we're just using the basic white chair! My reception will be chiavari chairs. I say add decor and make the chair appealing!

Go for the plain white. No one really cares about chairs as long as they're clean and sturdy. Maybe focus your aesthetics elsewhere by making something else slightly more elaborate.

Honestly, it comes down to what you want and what's important to you. I ended up renting them because I love the look of them, and although people probably won't notice, I will. I wanted them, so I'm paying for them.

Figure out what's most important to you, if it's between hair / makeup or chairs... What would you rather?

Luckily my venue comes with them or I would have rented them. I like the way it looks at receptions! I sit straight up anyway so they aren't uncomfortable for me at all. If you can work them into your budget, definitely rent them!

I wanted them too and searched to high heavens to find the cheapest rentals. I was convinced that my wedding would be ugly without them. We didn't use them because that's an astounding waste of money and everything looked beautiful.

I know you like the look, but the way YOU look on your wedding day is FAR more important. Also, guests WILL remember your flowers, and flowers will be a BIG part of your wedding pictures (like your bouquet) but seriously, NO ONE will remember what chairs they sat in. One of the hardest parts about wedding planning was making some sacrifices like this but honestly, this is a sacrifice I would make!

I don't think guests are going to notice or point out the chairs. As long as your food and drink are on point they won't complain. Obviously you want them but if your funds are running low I don't think it should be a priority. Maybe you should get some quotes on hair/makeup and a florist firsy so you have a better idea of what you'll need for that and if you'll have anything extra to throw at the chairs

I ended up going with the Chaivari chairs, I'm really visual and did a lot of searching on photographers and bloggers websites to compare what both chairs looked like at that venue (something I would recommend to anyone, not just for chairs but to get a visual idea of what table set up could look like, etc.) the brown conference room chairs stuck out like a sore thumb in the all white/neutral color room. HOWEVER, if your funds are running low... don't overextend yourself for chairs, your bank account will thank you in the end.

I have zero recollection of the chairs at any wedding I've been to, except the one where there weren't enough chairs for everyone, which was awful

People with invisible disabilities remember the chairs. Just sayin.

I think these chairs are gorgeous but at my venue they were 7.50 to rent per chair. I said absolutely no and went with the white padded folding chairs. That saved us over $500 which to me is worth it.
