To Chuppah or Not to Chuppah

firstoneat56, on June 23, 2017 at 2:56 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

We are renting a Chuppah for our ceremony from our venue. The room where the ceremony is being held will be flipped for dinner while we are in another room for cocktail hour. Should we keep the Chuppah up over the sweetheart table during dinner or have them take it down?

Pic attached is a ceremony with the Chuppah. Table pictures to follow in comments with, and without Chuupah

What is your gut telling you? I am not Jewish but I think that adds a bit of romance to the table that alone doesn't have.

@Dragna - my gut isn't telling me anything which is why I am asking - LOL! In our case, our ceremony is not religious at all. However, FH wanted a chuppah and to step on the glass so he shall have it.

I say leave it up then, I think it adds some romance to the area. I am not liking the just married sign in the last pic, that is just my opinion though.

I went to a wedding recently where they kept the chuppah and put it over the cake table. I had never seen that before. I thought it was beautiful. I think as long as you can see everyone and vise versa, it's a nice romantic element. Plus chuppahs are expensive, so I say get as much use out of it as you can!

We are also renting a chuppah. They told us that once it is up it stays up all night because it is very heavy. I would discuss who ever you are renting it from and see if it's even an option to take it down.

I think it would provide a beautiful backdrop for your sweetheart table!

I love the chuppah over the sweetheart table. It seems super cozy. The white fabric will look nice with the white deer busts you've shown us before Smiley smile

I like it, especially with little fairy lights! for the reception! So romantic.

I would take a look at the full room layout. Will the legs of the Chuppah block the view from any of yours guests to seeing you? I love the way it looks, and actually enjoy you and your now DH having a meal under it, but if it blocks view, I would ditch it.

I've seen it done both ways.

This reminds me to check with my vendor about picking it up during the flip. FH and I are leaning toward no Chuppah because our room layout will be weird with it during dinner.

I would get guidance from your Rabbi. There may be some rules about this.
