To have and to hold, in case you get cold?

Kristen, on December 27, 2020 at 8:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hi all, my fiancé and I are getting married in January of next year and my venue has a beautiful outdoor area with a large fireplace. We were planning on having a super cute renovated RV coffee cart parked out there for dessert/the end of the night. I love the idea of the blankets for guests with a “to have and to hold, in case you get cold,” sign. My question is, do I need a blanket for every guest in attendance (these are not favors), or just a decent amount for people that may want them?

Yes, I would get them individually wrapped to due to COVID

Yes, I would definitely have enough for each guest because you don't want to risk the chance that everyone wants one and people are sitting there freezing.

I agree with this! I don't think it's super likely that everyone will take one, but just in case it happens, it's better to have enough for everyone (and have leftovers if not everyone takes one), as opposed to not having enough in the event that everyone wants one.

Agree with the others- you need to make sure every guest has a blanket. You might want to add to the sign “please return at the end of the night”.

I agree with what other comments say.... but I did this at my wedding And my guest count was 60, and I purchased 40. I was also left with about 10ish blankets. So with that being said, if you can afford blankets for every guest, that is nice, however I did enough for one per family essentially and had zero issues!

How cold will it be? I'm assuming you live in the southwest where it's not TOO cold but January is still dead winter. The colder it is, the more blankets you will need.

BTW let me know if you are looking for blankets! I found a fairly nice, cheap source that I'm using for my own winter wedding!

OH I misread and thought your entire reception was outdoors! It's just the end of the night so I think that's fine with a fire! lol

These are the ones I'm eyeing.

You can find other fleece blankets for similar pricing if you look, but I like that these are patterned/plaid - they're the only place I've found with those colors for that price. I found the link from another bride who was selling hers, she said they are true to the photo.

I plan on doing the same for my wedding in March (can be pretty chilly in PA). Not everyone will need one but I will plan to get enough for the female guests attending. The guys will be ok wearing their suit jackets but women’s’ dresses are thinner or shorter sleeves/sleeveless.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Enough for the women because I highly doubt men will use them. I don’t even think all the ladies will but I was thinking like 40-50 blankets for my 75-85 total guests would work.
