To Photobooth or not to Photobooth

Destanee, on March 24, 2022 at 9:52 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 14
I just wanted to pop in here since I need a little help making this decision. FH and I have decided a little last minute that we would like a Photobooth at our wedding (we initially were going to DIY a polaroid booth). I fell in love with this Photobooth that also comes with that black and white photos + glam filter that I really like a lot like the celebrity Photobooth that you may have seen. The problem is this Photobooth costs about $900 for 5 hours. So my question is those that are having or have had a Photobooth at your wedding did you feel like it was worth it? I would hate to spend almost 1k on a booth when if it could potentially not be used that much. My Photobooth would be placed in a location many would see on arrival to the event as our wedding is on a rooftop bar. Thank you for the input! 😊

We're doing one at ours, it was included in a package with our photographer and like $700 for 4 hours plus 1 hour setup/take down. I have always enjoyed photobooths at weddings bc it is an alternative activity besides just dancing and it's a good way to see pictures of all your guests. Ours includes a book of all pictures taken, and guests can leave a message as well if they want. They shut down during dances/toasts so people aren't distracted. So for us I think it'll be worth it.

I recently created a discussion with this same question! I got a lot of helpful responses, so I figured I'd share the link to that discussion in case any of those replies help you out too: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/photo-booth-worth-it-or-skip/a379ea0855e3fc65.html

From what I've gathered, photo booths seem to be super popular among guests at weddings! My fiance and I ultimately decided to add one to our wedding. If the one you found is more than you want to spend, definitely shop around and see what else you can find.

We will be having one! I believe it’s only three hours though at $800. But we will have the Glam look that gives off that celeb vibe as well as unlimited prints and digitals of all the shots taken.

I think it’ll be a nice add on and something else for guests to be more interactive!

I catered a wedding with a photobooth while I was waitressing and I think we (the wait staff) used it more than the guests! I think it depends where you situate it though. In this venue, everyone was congregated around the bar and the photobooth was in a different room

I didn't do a photo booth at my wedding. Just seemed like an added expense that wouldn't be worth it. I don't think anyone would have used it with how our wedding was set up. However, I did have a small DIY photo booth at my bridal shower, and that was perfect because everyone loved it and it was inexpensive. I think it just depends on your budget, wedding format, and priorities.

We did a DIY photo booth at our wedding, and it was awesome! My sister-in-law has a background in theatre, so she brought a lot of props, as well as lights, and she made the backdrop. We then allowed everyone to take their own pictures with their phones. It was honestly the best photo booth experience I've seen at a wedding. Not only are hired photo booths expensive, but there's no guarantee your pictures will be any good, and then you have to move out of the way because the line is too long to ask for a retake. Ours was much more chill, and everyone had a blast.

I convinced the FH to get one too because I was like "I WANT ALL THE MEMORIES" - ours is for a few hours and was under $500. But I think it's worth it 100%

But we are not doing a dj so...

Photobooths are so fun! I think more pictures of your guest to add on to the memories will be well worth it!

I love the concept of a photobooth for a wedding but we decided not to include one, it wasn't part of the package.

I went to my cousin's wedding and they had a photo booth and it was great fun. We all did photos all night and got all kinds of group photos like cousins and couples and friends. It was just a lot of fun so I would think about doing one Smiley smile.

As a wedding photographer, I offer a photo booth specifically decorated for you day. I’ve rented it out for almost every wedding, but have in all honesty if your having a smaller wedding, I never really had them used, the kids seemed to love it the most!

As a guest, I think photo booths at weddings are silly. You have a professional photographer I assume, so guests will be able to see nice pictures. If they want goofy pictures they can take them with their phones or your DIY photo booth.
