Have your guest ever taken rental pieces? Did the DJ have to announce that the centerpieces are not up for grabs?

I didn't know that taking the centerpieces was a "tradition." Typically the MC makes an announcement if the centerpieces are up for grabs, and it's rude for guests to assume otherwise.
