We don't want the Wagner "Here Comes the Bride," Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," the Pachelbel Canon, or any mvm't of Vivaldi's "Spring" (or Winter's 2nd Mvm't). I'm looking for something "classy" but not overplayed.
Tentatively we have the Brandenburg Concerto (No. 3) & Vivaldi's Autumn (1st Mvm't) for the prelude; both are still too cliché for my FH's tastes, but the Brandenburg has sentimental value for me, and Autumn is less common than Spring (and at least it doesn't show up whenever I google "wedding music").
I'm thinking about the Bach Cello Suite No. 1 or excerpts from Haydn's (Cello) Concerto for the processional and/or Bride's Entrance.
I'm leaning towards Vivaldi's Autumn, 3rd Mvm't for the recessional, because I like the balance of using the opening & closing mvm'ts of the same piece for the beginning & end of the ceremony.
Any other suggestions? I think I'm leaning towards baroque / early classical. Thanks!
