To Those Stressing About Details…

Tricia, on September 8, 2022 at 2:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
Ok listen, I was OBSESSED with planning every little detail of my ceremony/reception (to happen in the same space with a flip to happen during cocktail hour). I was waking up in the middle of the night thinking “omg what if my sweetheart table looks empty?!” I planned a long weekend (Thurs-Sat) in Michigan to kidnap our entire families and wedding party for fun events all weekend. Our people are SOOO important to us. We have been together 10 years so we want a huge party weekend. LISTEN——-5 days before my wedding I wake up to a 6am text from my mom asking if she can call me. She proceeds to tell me that she is positive for covid. Ok, so she can still come, she will be post 5 days and will wear a N95. Now my parents + 4 sisters + 2 BILs + 3 nieces are always together, I would as well but I live an hour away. I was not exposed but I began to get nervous about my father making it to the wedding. 4 days before the wedding my dad tests positive. I immediately throw out my dreams of him walking me down the aisle and father/daughter dance. We did not want to expose any guests knowingly. Ok so I decided my sister (MOH) will walk me down the aisle. A few hours later my MOH’s 6 month old is positive. Then I get a text that my older sister’s daughter is positive. Then the day before the wedding my aunt who is supposed to walk in my processional is positive. I have 2 sisters left who are isolating who thank GOD test negative wedding morning. Those negative tests felt like Christmas morning that I could have 2 sisters and 6/8 bridesmaids present. I switch my ceremony last minute to outdoors so my covid positive fam could watch (parents + MOH + older sister (bridesmaid) + 2 nieces (flower girls) could watch from a distance and leave immediately after, not attend the reception. Covid is not over.

I'm sorry this happened and I hope everyone is okay. It's frustrating that we're still in a pandemic. I think a lot of people, including myself, planned a few years out when the vaccines came out thinking this would be over.

Ughhh I am SO SORRY! This sounds like a nightmare. I am glad they were able to at least watch the ceremony from a distance, but that must've been hard.

I am so nervous this is going to happen to us.

Oh my gosh so sorry this is happening. Seems like you handled it well and were able to make changes to accommodate last minute emergencies. All the best and I hope your wedding is the special day of your dreams.
