To veil or not to veil

Shelley, on January 4, 2021 at 5:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29
I am getting married in less than 3 months, on April 3, 2021 (#4321!). This is our second wedding each, it will be a perfectly small gathering and last 4-5 hours with family and close friends. I had the big 90's veil the first time around but am really not sure about it this time. My fiance says he can't see me wearing one (which doesn't mean I won't wear one lol).

Is everyone into veil's now or do any of you find yourself in the same situation, just unsure that it's for you? Maybe I'll see one and know it's 'the one' because I have not even found my dress yet. Still on the hunt!
Thank you and good luck to all you beautiful brides out there!

If it gives you any perspective my aunt in her 60s is on her fourth husband because the other three were just horrible and she's never had an official wedding. She wore a white mermaid dress and a veil so you do what makes you happy. Personally I am team Veil and I feel like it's such a nice little touch to the wedding dress. You can take it off for the reception but I think having it for the ceremony and pictures is lovely.

I plan to not wear a veil. I'm not a fan of things in my face or on my head.

It's your preference. I have been to 4 weddings in the past year. Three brides had veils varying in length. Personally, I love them. That's what made me feel like a bride. I loved my dress and was ecstatic when I bought it... but when I bought the veil at a separate appointment, I BAWLED! Happy tears, of course. Here are a few pictures of mine! Good luck on your search! To veil or not to veil 1

Beautiful photos, Laura! I love the length and placement of your veil. It looks lovely on you.

I think that's where I would place one. I married at 21 the first time and did not like my veil. The bridal shop ordered the wrong one and it came in late, the day before the wedding, and they only had tulle in their shop. So, I think I just have a bad association with wearing a veil. lol I'm sure it will change when I try them on.

Hi Kristen- Aw, well, good for your aunt. Smiley smile I'm still on the fence. This is my second wedding, and I did not like my first veil, so I may not know until I come across 'the one'.

I totally get that. I kind of feel the same way so I'm really not sure about a veil.

I opted for no veil and just flowers in my hair for my second wedding. I just wasn’t feeling the veil, but I say you do what makes you happy. To veil or not to veil 3

I knew I wanted a veil and I wanted a long one. To me they’re so bridal and fancy and fun, lol.

I bought mine before I even bought my dress. I loved it from the moment I saw it. I didn’t want to take it off!

I say try on a few and do not let the second wedding be the reason. I know brides who got married twice and had a veil. You can make it as simple or complex as you want but I feel that if you do not want the veil then do not do it. Do not do it because what your fh says Smiley winking.

Side not to show you some other veils and like Cassidy I love veils and I decided I get one day to be extra. A friend of mine did a cathedral veil and I saw mantilla styles and fell in love. It was perfect because Spain is my favorite country and I am a Spanish teacher so I felt this was a good representation of me.

I was adamant about not having a veil... and then I tried one on. For me, it really pulled the look together, but I still love the hair clip I wore at the reception!

Hello! Congratulations! 🍾♥️ I honestly haven’t decided on a veil or not. My fiancée has slightly mentioned it but we haven’t officially decided if I should go for it or not. I thought about trying them on to see how I feel. I like the ones that hang off the back a lot versus the ones that cover your face. They’re both pretty I just like the long ones hanging in the back a little better! 🤗

I'm all about the veil for the ceremony! I just purchased my dress yesterday but need to decide on which veil I want. The dress I went with has a pretty long train with detailed lace. I'm going with a cathedral veil, but trying to decide if I should have it be plain so it doesn't take away from the dress or also get a lace veil, but it will need to be longer than the dress detail so it flows nicely together. But I'm all about the long cathedral veil!

If you like the idea of a veil, go for it! I plan to wear a long veil because I like the elegance & drama it adds to my dress. For me, i knew that I wanted a veil when I tried one on with my top dress choices. And even more so as they got longer and longer. Lol so when I picked my dress I already knew what to look for. So I would say pick your dress and decide what goes with the vibe you want.

I think you'll know once you find your dress & can envision the full look! Try on a few different types & see if any fit your vibe. I LOVE them, but it just doesn't feel right with the rest of my vision.. so I'm doing a wide brimmed hat instead!

I say try a few on once you find your dress before making the decision. There are also some stunning hair pieces out there!

I love veils. They can really complete the look. I have a photo of my cathedral flying in the air

I have one that I’m happy with, but at the same time unsure if I’m going to wear it. Im not sure if it adds to the dress or not, but it’s beautiful and a simple finger length veil.

I bought it used through Poshmark, so the price was pretty sweet. ($75) It probably will end up being a decision I make when I test out my hair and or maybe a day of decision.
