Tobacco Cloth AKA Cheese Cloth

KentuckyWineBride, on May 16, 2016 at 4:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

We're wanting to drape some cheese cloth just like this picture. How many yards? I was thinking 200? The pic is our actual venue. We want to take the tables out from underneath and make a dance floor. I've found it in 100 yard lengths. Thoughts?

I'm not sure cheesecloth is going to give you the draping effect like this. To help, we'd need measurements - floor to top of pillar, top of pillar to center roof beam.

Cheese cloth is pretty ugly, almost gauze like. Are you sure that is what is in the picture? I would look into regular frabric. Maybe check YouTube or just Google it.

Tobacco cloth is a perfect draping fabric, and it's often used as an inexpensive alternative to tulle. I say go for it! Your venue should know how much you need.

Contact your venue and inquire about this specific photo to see if they know what was done. They can obviously give you measurements and suggestions.

Unfortunately, I did contact the venue and they said that every person has done it differently so they couldn't specify length. Typically they're very helpful, but not on this.

Cheese cloth is super popular in Kentucky weddings. It drapes really well! Can't beat the price either. 100 yards for $49

Maybe cheese cloth in the North is different. Ask for the height from the floor to the ceiling and the width from pole to pole. That should give you a pretty good idea.
