Too early to send save the dates?

Brooke, on May 11, 2020 at 9:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Our wedding is in April 2021 in Tennessee. Every person going to the wedding has to travel. We have family in Florida, Georgia, Connecticut, New York, and North Carolina. I have the save the dates printed and stamped ready to go. We included our wedding website information which has hotel block info that I have already set up. Do you think I should wait or send them out now? Thanks! Smiley smile

Actually, now is the best time to send them! If your wedding involves travel, sending save the dates out sooner the better is the best policy. It will give everyone the chance to plan and save money to accommodate their travels. Put them in the mail Smiley smile

I think this month or next would be totally fine since everyone has to travel. And it'll give people something to look forward to in a bleak time!

I personally would wait a month or two. Right now some of those states are still dealing with covid. People will not be as excited till things are somewhat decent.

I agree with PP about waiting a month or two. It’s typical to send save the dates for destination weddings 8-10 months out. Some of those states (especially NY) are getting hit hard by covid right now and I think sending a save the date for a destination wedding almost a year away could come off as a little tone deaf.

Hold off a bit. Nearly a year out is a bit early and they may get lost in the shuffle of life. Even though many of your guests have to travel, they're not flying internationally. Eight months in advance is more than enough time.

I would wait a couple of months. Since you have several guests traveling, I think 10 months out would be an appropriate time frame to send save the dates.

We are holding off a little longer for Feb 2021. It’s still pretty early for April 2021 in normal times, but right now many people are probably unable or willing to make any decisions. Sending them now won’t actually provide any more time for them to prepare since they won’t make the decision now, so it doesn’t really have an upside but could be considered tone deaf.
