Too late to plan a honeymoon?

Future Mrs. T, on January 29, 2014 at 8:20 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22

Hello ladies,

My wedding is in June and up until this point in the planning process we did not even entertain the idea of going on a honeymoon because my future hubby could not get extra time off besides the weekend of the wedding. To our surprise, he will be able to take at least a week off afterward! The problem is I don't know how to plan a trip...I've never traveled anywhere...(I know pitiful...lol) and I don't know if we are too late to even try to plan something because I heard the closer to the date the more expensive it can be. As if I needed something else to be stressing over wedding related... ;-) Where do I start? Suggestions? Thanks!

Call a travel agency and have them do all the work. First, start with a place you would like to go and things you would like to do. Do you want to relax and chill at a beach? Go hiking in the mountains? See historic monuments? Or art? What are your and your FH interests?

Figure out a budget and just start thinking about places you'd like to go.

6 months is plenty of time.

Start with what kind if trip you want:

Beach, relaxing, adventure, outdoors, tropical, etc.

Based off that, say you want a warm beach vacation, look up best beaches to travel to in June.

    Then look into lodging.

    Then flights.

    Hope that helps Smiley smile

I definitely don't think it is too late

It's not too late, or i'm screwed too! lol. my wedding is a month before yours. we can't plan a honeymoon, because we don't know FH's military schedule. We may not find out until March! if we can do it, so can you! i would either get a travel agent, or use expedia. there are some all inclusive vacation packages that make it really easy if they have what you want.

I've travelled a decent amount here and internationally and never used a travel agent. I'd suggest deciding where you want to go (somewhere that's not peak season will be cheaper) and then comparing prices on Expedia, Hotwire, etc.

Please feel free to contact me, *********@*****.***, you still have plenty of time to plan a honeymoon, and you won't have to stress when you use a travel agent.

    Hello Future Mrs T.

You are actually right on time, so no stressing, okay? A great travel specialist will always be your best bet, especially if you don't know where to start. I actually just gave out free honeymoon guides this week on my website at http://www.romanticstravel.com/#!how-to-choose-your-honeymoon/cyyw

You are more than welcome to download all of the freebies on my site. I designed it to help busy brides, like you.

Definitely not too late! Where are you located? Do you want to drive, get on a plane, stay in the US? There is no charge to use a travel agent and they be able to give you some ideas.

You've got tons of time! I travel fairly often and as long as you are not set on a specific spot or hotel you should have no issues. Look around for deals... if possible fly during a Tues-Thurs as those tend to be the cheapest dates to fly. Also, look at different times during the day to fly as that can sometimes make a huge difference in the price. Figure out what you want to spend and what style of trip you want... beach and relaxation? City break? Adventure? If you want to just relax somewhere warm, look into all inclusive deals at resorts as you might be able to find something you like, and a good deal. It would also be easier to plan if that is the part that worries you.

Decide if you want to drive or fly and how far.

We're doing a roadtrip so we can see as much as possible in the number of days we have.

Leaving the honeymoon planning to a professional will definitely take any unneeded stress out of your life before your wedding! Make sure your travel agent takes the time to get to know your likes and dislikes and is willing to work with you through different ideas to get to just the right honeymoon Smiley smile

I'm a June bride, but planning a September or so honeymoon. Mostly bc I wanna go to the beach, and fh loves the Jax Jaguars. So he has an idea of it, but it'll actually be a surprise.

So, I'll be using orbitz and ticketmaster to book a trip to either the Jaguars first home or away game, and a weekend in whichever town that happens to be in ;-)

You have plenty of time!! And Expedia, orbitz, Travelocity...I've used them all and they are great. Make sure you double-check hotel reviews on tripsdvisor before you book. If you end up going to another country, it might behoove you to purchase "transfers" ( rides to and from the airport/hotel) ahead of time. All of the travel websites listed above will offer it as an option. I suggest this only because new travelers can become easily overwhelmed at the airport in a foreign country. Good luck and safe travels!!! Smiley smile

May 1 is the beginning of our "off season" when motel prices drop.
