Too Old for a Veil

So I'm older than many here. I know the standard answer is "wear what you want" but I'm asking for an honest opinion here...Is 43 too old to wear a veil?

Honey I'm 51 and will be 52 when we get married and in a church I am wearing a gown with a veil in the back but it is white too. It's all about you if you look at some and like it do it.

I'm 47, one month shy of my 48th birthday when I was married. I wore a veil. I initially wasn't going to wear one, but when I put one on, I feel like it completed the look. It doesn't hurt to try them on and see how you feel.

Not at all! I'm 38. Not that much younger than you and it was never a question for me.

I do not think age makes any difference in whether someone should wear a veil. We are all brides after all!

Some women don't feel comfortable with a veil after a certain age. Right? Wrong? What matters is how comfortable the lady feels in her bridal attire. The good news is that if you are hard-wired to believe that veils belong to younger brides, you have so many gorgeous alternatives. In fact, I was just talking to my daughter, who is in her early 30's and will be a second time bride, about an hour ago about this very subject. She wants a headpiece, but not the type of veil she wore at her first wedding ten years ago. She began to show me what's available today, and I was blown away with the crystal headpieces -- small, medium, and large -- the embellished bird cage veils, and the head jewelry. Stunning is the word that came to mind. Bridal is another word that came to mind.

You can wear a veil if you want to, and I don't mean to suggest that you can't. However, the way you worded your post made me think that you didn't just want to hear the obvious -- which is, sweetheart, you wear whatever you want. You want a veil...buy a gorgeous, embellished cathedral veil, and wear it with pride. But, if you won't feel comfortable, then start googling. Your options are limitless, sparkling, feathery (if you want), and gorgeous.

I don't understand why there would be an age limit?? Wear it!

I second PP. Veils didn't seem to be my thing, a 43 yo bride on my second wedding. So I chose a bird cage veil that made me feel sophisticated. Whatever you choose, though, rock it! We are not old, just getting started!

I didn't know you had to be a certain age to wear a veil.
