Too Revealing?

So I got this from Rent the Runway, it was a designer I'd never worn before so I decided to do a test rental and see if the dress would work for my Rehearsal Dinner (instead of waiting and hoping that it fit and end up potentially rushing to find a dress the day of). I love the way it looks on me, I really like the way it is so risqué but doesn't show too much. However, after FH zipped up the dress last night he says it may be too revealing for a "family affair." So- I'm curious what you other ladies, and gentlemen, think of it! Bit of back info- our RD will be at a fancy-ish Steak & Seafood House, only family is siblings, parents & grandparents.

I think you look great in the dress. I would say it is too revealing to wear to a church or work but not for dinner. Since you are smaller up top, it's all covered up by the design. I'd say go with it as long as you tape yourself in to make sure nothing pops out.

The idea that you shouldn't wear something because it might make his family uncomfortable is ludicrous.

If I want to wear pasties and a g string to my RD, I'll do it, whether FH (or anyone else) likes it or not.

I get that you are meeting some family that may not know you yet....so that's something to consider. Honestly, if your comfortable go for it. It's truly gorgeous on you.

I love it! I don't think it's too revealing, and that it would be perfect for the rehearsal dinner you have planned.

Maybe chat with your fiancé to see where his head is. Is there a relative in particular these worried about offending? Might help you to make a well rounded decision that you're comfortable with.

    Hope that helps!

ELK: of course you CAN wear pasties and a g string, but that would be really inconsiderate to your guests. It's not at all about can or cannot, should or should not - those questions don't even make sense in this context! Part of properly hosting guests is honoring them - ESPECIALLY if FH is one who is uncomfortable with this choice!

I am just hear to say you look smoking! I agree with previous posters though, is your FH trying to hint to you it's too revealing? If you are comfortable, rock it

I personally don't believe in dressing for the comfort of others. If you're comfortable and feel good then go for it! You look awesome so I think you should rock it!

Are we really gonna try to say that if she wears this dress she isn't properly hosting her guests? You've gotta be kidding me. Some of the blatant sexism in this post is appalling.

I think it's very sexy in a classy way and you should definitely wear it!

I think it's perfect! Sure it shows cleavage, but you're modest everywhere else so I think it'll look nice.

I think you look great, but if my FH commented on it, I wouldn't wear it. He's super, super laid back normally, though; so, I know if he said something, it absolutely would be due to concern of a family member. His Gran is 91, and really conservative. I wouldn't wear it solely for that reason.

I love it but ya a little much for a rehearsal dinner. That lace and boob showing is very sexy but not really for grandma and parents.

@Denigris I totally agree. And not to wear it in front of grandma?! Who gives a fuck! Grandma was young once.

It's a great dress but not one I'd wear to RD. I don't want my own father seeing that much of my boob, much less my in-laws!! Like others have mentioned, it's a know your crowd and comfort level. I know my SIL wears things our family gatherings that shock my mom & I.
