Wear what you want. I'm getting married in Catholic Church and really don't care, I'm buying the dress and if they don't want to marry me over it, fine (but they will). I don't think it's inappropriate at all! I love the back

I'm sure some of my more conservative friends would shudder to look at this (I'm sure they will shudder to see me in a strapless dress even though it still completely covers everything and has 0 cleavage.

That being said, unless you're concerned about your own holiness or that you'll be breaking the churches rules I believe that modesty is very subjective. I'm not catholic (reformed Presbyterian) so I don't know what view the Catholic Church takes on this, but the only thing the Bible says about modesty has more to do with humility than with covering up your body. If it makes you feel confident, and you don't feel convicted personally about it, then guurrrrl you wear the heck out of that dress!!

I think with a long veil you can definitely get away with that dress at church...it looks great.

It's beautiful and looks amazing on you. But check with the church to make sure it will be allowed. Hopefully it won't be a problem, but it's best to find out sooner rather than later.

Definitely check with the priest who is marrying you or with the church coordinator. As a catholic, I've seen some pretty risqué outfits at church services but people (at my parish) tend to be more conservative when it comes to sacraments.

I had an illusion back like that too and it was fine with the (catholic) church. I don't think most churches have dress guidelines anymore. You could call the secretary at the church and ask if you're worried.

As a catholic myself, I personally don't think it's inappropriate but I have a lot of catholics in my family who are very conservative who may have some words on it... depends on how much you care what people think. Can't please everyone haha. Are you planning on wearing a veil? You can have a veil long enough to cover it for the church and then take the veil off for the reception.

Its totally fine! It looks beautiful. If you are really nervous about it being open you can wear a veil. But you don't have to if you don't want to.
