too small a guest list?

I have an extremely small guest list. I just don’t know enough people for me to invite. When I include that one uncle I barely know and haven’t seen since kindergarten I have forty five people, including both sides. That’s right 45 total! If I would cut the guest list to people I want there, its 15....

The annoying thing is the kind of places I want for my wedding comfortably seat 500. The company I want to cater has a 75 people min, so I’m thinking maybe if we order two entrees per person at the “big” guest list, the caterer will still let me use their services.

There just aren’t places for small weddings that still look elegant. They all look either huge and beautiful or small and “we’re on a tight budget”

I want the princess feel to my wedding, the theme being “elegant not extravagant” I can’t see how to do that without looking like I’m thinking I’m expecting more people or sacrificing everything I want to have a “small, intimate” wedding that would better fit my guest list.

About the church, you can find non-denominational churches that would allow him to officiate the wedding.

Also, how many guests will your FH have? Because if you can have 45 but he may have 100 that would bring your guest list to 145 and you might find a place that is suited for that amount of guests and you like it.

The issue with having a big place with a small guests list is that the place will look too big, and it won't look right.

You do have a lot of time left, and how knows by then you might have a bigger guest list.

@Natacha you misunderstand me there are 15 people on my side 30 on his, making it 45 total. If we cut down to people we care about it's 15 people total.

The big place vrs small guest list is what i'm worried about I know it will look wierd, but i dont want to look cheap / like i have no one but FH either (which is very nearly true)

We are having twenty to twenty five people total. We did simplify the wedding because most venues wanted an outrageous amount for minimums. We also changed the day from Saturday to Sunday. There were some nice places that were available to hold intimate weddings. We decided on a restaurant that had a private room. I really did not care if I had a real fancy wedding. For us, it was just about having our respective children and family there. Good luck in your search.

Unitarian Universalist churches will often rent out the church, and allow you to use your own officiant. That might be something to try.

Historic sites, museums, women's clubs (some of them are in historic houses); all would be lovely. I did a wonderful wedding in a Victorian B and B last year; 20 guests total, and it was amazing; the parlor was gorgeous and the bridal suite was beautiful too. There are b and b's everywhere, and they are a great alternative to a huge banquet hall.
