Top 3 "Must Have" Wedding Photos?

Lisa, on June 23, 2022 at 1:18 PM Posted in Planning 5 19
My fiance and I are creating our final to-do lists and lists for vendors, and are curious on what everyone is putting on their list of "must have" photos for your photographer (aside from the standard first kiss, walking down the aisle, first dance, etc)!

Do you have a unique photo that you're asking your photographer to capture? Possibly using props or fun lighting? Maybe photos with specific people (college roommates, a favorite relative, pets, etc)? Or photos of meaningful places/decor/items (location from your childhood, bouquet charm from your grandmother, a particular flower in memory of a loved one, etc)? What are your top 3 "must have" unique photos for your wedding?

Ugh there was a prop i wanted to use but i totally forgot it! it was basically a sign that said "onto the next adventure" or something like that and i wanted us to have a photo of it holding it together.

otherwise, i really wanted a group photo with balloons and luckily i got it - and it was GORGEOUS

another thing is i didn't have enough time to get solo shots with each of my bridal party members but i guess that's ok anyway throughout the night i got more photos with them.

Bummer that you weren't able to get a photo with the sign!! I love the "Onto the next adventure" saying. The balloon photo sounds fun! Was it a balloon wall? Or did you each hold balloons and do something fun with them?

My top 3 unique ones were an overhead shot of us laying down with my dress all around us, a stunt cheer photo with my cheer team that was in the bridal party, and last dance photos! All came out PERFECTLY

Those are fun! I especially love the idea of the cheer stunt photo! Great way to incorporate your team and a sport that you enjoy.

I want some really good ceremony pics and then family pictures. I think the photos that are most important to me are with specific people, I have a few very ill family members and I want to make sure to get some really special shots of them. Smiley heart I am also really excited about the photo booth shots, those are always fun and often ridiculous to look at haha. What are your must haves?

I know most brides make a list of “must have” photos (actually, I think most brides these days have an entire Pinterest board full of them! Lol)
but we are not really into post photos. Instead, we have instructed our photographer to just capture the day as it naturally happens. However, I do have one “must have” photo, and that is me holding my bouquet with the photo charm of my dog(aka, Best friend, bestest boy, forever my baby) who passed away before FH and I got engaged. It’s super important for me to have a photo representing him on our big day ❤️

I love the idea of capturing special shots with family members! I'm sure both they and you will treasure those images. And good point about the photo booth shots, lol!! I agree that those are always fun. What type of ceremony photos do you envision?

My only must-have so far is a laser photo. My fiance and I love camping, and we have a laser that we bring with us. When it's shined up into the trees at night, it looks like stars, and when the leaves move, it looks like the "stars" are twinkling. Super pretty and one of our favorite camping purchases ever! So we made sure to book our photographer for enough hours to where he'll be there when it's dark enough to see the laser, and we should be able to get some fun photos, since our venue has some beautiful trees that we can shine the laser into.

Ooooh fun! The laser photos sound awesome. Well we aren’t doing a first look so I’m really hoping for a good reaction photo, a fun first kiss photo , and an exit photo. There s also a pretty big surprise his twin/best man is setting up for the reception so I ll have to remember to clue the photographers in on when to catch that. My family also always does a cousin photo at wedding receptions so I’m excited for that we both have a ton of cousins who will be attendance plus some of my mom’s cousins. Should be an epic photo 💙

I LOVE that you are incorporating your dog in the photo charm on your bouquet! That will turn out to be such a sweet photo! And a beautiful way to honor him ❤️ I also totally agree with you, my fiance and I also prefer more candid photos instead of pre-planned/posed. The only photo that we have on our "must have" list at the moment is a laser photo, where we will shine a laser up into our venue's trees and try to capture some fun night photos with the laser, but your reply reminded me of another photo I should add to my list! A seller we found on Etsy made a custom figurine of our cat, that we plan to incorporate into our cake design. I definitely want the photographer to take a detailed shot of that!

Our wedding venue had a huge pasture with llamas owned by the venue owner. I wanted so badly a good picture with the llamas. I got that picture Top 3 "Must Have" Wedding Photos? 1
I'd also seen a picture of a groom leading his bride through tall grass that I thought was super cute, and our photographer delivered Top 3 "Must Have" Wedding Photos? 2
Those were really the only two pictures, besides the usual ones, that I knew I *needed* lol

Other than the big moments (walking down the aisle, first seeing each other, first kiss, first dance, etc.), I REALLY want some great sunset photos! Our reception venue has a helicopter pad and a gorgeous view of the downtown skyline, so fingers crossed the weather cooperates! Other than that, I think just some detail shots of the sentimental touches that might not otherwise get noticed.

Photos of our invitations...like those little detail shots. Our first look (we're doing a blind one), and pictures of the florals....since we won't be able to keep those after the event! haha
