torn between two Venues!

Hello,

So we have seen all the venues we have wanted to see and we have got the decision down to two venues... and these venues are very very similar I cannot stress this enough hence the predicament I find us both in! Myself and my other half have as much input as each other because we are BOTH getting married its not just about me I am glad I have a man that wants to be a part of our decisions and its not all left to me!

OK SO VENUES! (I am based in the UK if you internet search these)

1. HOTHORPE HALL

Exclusive Hire and Catering 70 Day Guests and 70 Evening : £11,905.00

2. KILWORTH HOUSE

Non-Exclusive Hire and Catering 80 Day Guests, 50 Evening £11,595.00

Both venues are and I will say it again very grand, large, royal princess type venues if we could combine the two it would be perfect but it all boils down to one or the other and it is mentally frustrating both have pro's and con's but because they are both manor houses with very similar aspects - its like if we accept one, we are missing something from the other!

The cost as you can see differs slightly.. so for me its not about whats cheaper is better because thats not always the case!!

Anybody in a similar situation? Anybody have made the decision between too if so HOW?

I see you are in the UK! Do you want to have a smaller number of evening guests? That seems to be the main difference.

    Hello!
I know thats the thing in terms of guests theres not a problem.. its the buildings themselves... both manor houses, ones very modern ones very royal and vintage looking if we could combine the two it would be amazing.. they bother offer literally the same things but it is just the rooms, the logical layout and ah so difficult!

What are the pros and cons that the two of you have come up with? What are the "must have", "nice to have", "don't need/ care about" criteria that you both have for a venue? If you are wanting to be married outside, what is their backup plan in case of bad weather?

I looked at the wedding tabs for both locations and based on the websites and the transparency of the pricing shown, I would be more interested in Hothorpe Hall. I'll be honest, I'm a lazy bride. The more included in the venue that I don't have to organize or worry about, the better. Having a venue that only books one wedding a day is important to me as well so that I don't have to worry about have party crashers.

Good luck! I know you'll figure this out! Smiley heart

From an etiquette standpoint it would be better to include all of your guests for the entire celebration.

That would all depend on budget and cost surely if you can afford to spend £102.00 a head on 200 guests and keep everything else to a real minimum or like I said if you have £1000s of pounds sitting there doing nothing - also I'd rather have those closest to me at the most intimate part of my day being the ceremony all guests can spend the night if they wish.

Everyone who is coming to the ceremony should be invited to the reception as well.

Yes exactly and that they will but after the wedding breakfast there will be additional numbers to those who participated in the day to be there for the evening reception and party does that make sense to you?

Alright! I didn't see that you were having a breakfast and all that before hand. Personally with it being an all day affair I would choose the more royal, vintage manor. They are both gorgeous though!

Even if it's not all exclusive.. how would you feel of you had people that were not part of your wedding about the place - not in your areas though marked off for your wedding

I'd go with 1 for the exclusivity and I am also very confused by the evening guest thing. How do you determine who stays and who doesn't?

We have a wedding ceremony followed by a blessing, followed by reception drinks and a wedding breakfast which ends around 630/7 the evening guests then come ready for a night of partying.. anybody can stay but immediate family only at the ceremony

That’s not how it is done in the UK. She is filling etiquette for the UK. Look at the royals, everyone has this sort of multi event reception.
