Toss Bouquet

Maria , on March 21, 2018 at 3:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 33

My FH wants to do the garter and bouquet toss. I am a little hesitant to participate in this tradition. Did you?

My bouquet will be made out of Sola Wood Flowers. I'm scared that if the bouquet is dropped it will become damaged. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've seen some brides use a "toss bouquet" but if I'm not sure if I should do this. We have a tight budget already. What did you do or have you seen done with the bridal bouquet after the wedding?

I am not doing this because I hate being pulled onto the dance floor at weddings when I am a guest. I think it's a really weird tradition.

If you really want to do it, you could purchase a few different fake flowers from the craft store and make a little bouquet out of it to toss.

I'll have a smaller bouquet made as a giveaway bouquet. I need to look in to what to do with my bouquet following the wedding. I've seen putting petals into a clear Christmas ornament as an option, which I think would be really cool to have as a keepsake. I'll follow this to see other ideas people post!

ETA: Not doing traditional garter/bouquet toss, but having an anniversary dance where the married couples dance and by the end of the song, the couple married the longest is still on the dance floor as the DJ names milestone years for people to stay on. That couple will get the giveaway bouquet.

I read about a bride that bought a couple of $5 bouquets of flowers at Safeway and when the time came for the "toss" she handed out flowers to each of the little girls. I thought that was way sweeter than doing the bouquet toss. It gives you some one on one time with the littles who look up to you! I am borrowing a friends handmade brooch bouquet so there will be NO tossing at our reception!! Lol!

If you just get two of 3 loose stemmed sola flowers and tie them together it's good enough for a toss bouquet. It doesn't have to be fancy. That's what my MOH did at her wedding (with real flowers) She told me she paid too much on her bouquet to toss it in the air. lol

But if you're not comfortable with the tradition at all try talking to him about it and not doing it or finding an alternative.

We skipped both. The garter toss is cringe-worthy and the bouquet toss is awkward.

I'm not doing one. It's archaic to me and most people don't like the tradition. I personally hate trying to wrestle a bouquet from a group of girls, and I don't want my FH to be all up in my dress in front of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, his family, etc. Talk about awkward.

Ask him why he's so insistent on doing it? Maybe he just thinks it's tradition and people like it- I've found most don't.

We’re not doing either because nearly all of our friends are already married.

you could always get a fake flower bouquet to toss. Most people don’t throw their own bouquet.

    This is soooooo cute.

I might find a way to do this with the five little girls that are going to be at our wedding without the whole show of the bouquet toss!

I’m skipping that part. My wedding is small and most of the people attending are already married.

You can get a cheap one at the grocery store if you must. But don't be surprised if all the single people at your wedding suddenly need to pee or go to the bar when this is announced.

You can buy pretty cheap ones, our real floral bouquet was $15 bucks and it’s pretty.
no one makes anyone do anything, same as weddings: if you don’t want to participate in something ninone can force you . We have a lot of guests eager to catch the bouquet so we are doing it.

We did have one. I just had my lady make a smaller version of the bouquets and used it. We had several kids and teens that enjoyed this part of the wedding.

I know I’m the odd one who loves the bouquet toss! But that’s just because I’m competitive haha. I think I’ve caught 8 or 9. Usually you use a different bouquet for the toss.

I am doing the same thing!!! I don't have too many single women coming (I am one of the last of my friends to get married), and I didn't want my one or two single friends to feel awkward.

If you really want to do it, you could make a super inexpensive bouquet from fake craft store flowers, but I think we're going to forgo the tosses anyway.

FH is really mad that we aren’t doing them, but I refuse! It makes me cringe every time I see them done, so I don’t want to do them.
