Transportation Drama

Ada, on July 1, 2021 at 1:40 PM Posted in Planning 1 5
Hey fellow brides/grooms:

I am about to scream! I have several guests coming in from out of state/country for my August 21st wedding; and as it is traditional, I've created a hotel room block and also plan to provide transportation from the hotel to the venue site (ceremony & reception at same locale), but none of my guests have reserved yet!
I know there's "plenty" of time, but because of covid19 EVERYONE is getting married this summer so availability is sketchy! I'd like to lock it in now, but if I don't have at least 10 guests (&dollarSmiley winking, I really can't yet.The other option is to create a LYFT code and pay up to $20 per guest and let them use that...but again, not sure how many people to do this for since Only half of the out of towners have RSVP'd🤦🏽‍♀️.Another issue Im facing is, I'm doing most things digitally ($&dollarSmiley winking and folks are cOMPLAINING about that. I caved in and sent out paper invites though, only for someone to say,"...thanks, I'll just take a pic if it so I'm hands free". Also, I need to streamline wedding party/family communications by using WhatsApp, FB messenger etc...nothing but complaints and, "I don't use WhatsApp, etc.." Everyone is contacting my MIL, communications are everywhere,, folks complaining about how expensive Chicago is.....ugh,I could scream. Is it me, am I trippin,? Thoughts? Suggestions? Reassurances?

Okay, you sent out paper invites. Done. Just put up a wedding website so they can go to for directions, details, etc. Let your MIL defer to the website so ppl don't bother her. Book a bus anyway as there are passenger limit ranges, e.g. 10-25 ppl. I just booked mine for an August wedding and don't have my RSVP's yet. Anyone that doesn't reserve can pay for a Lyft or cab themselves.

Why are people complaining to you, the Bride? They should've known to save when they got the Save the Dates. Limit contact with complainers by posting to the website, but post sparingly. If your people can't come, tell them it's fine, their reasons are their own and you don't need justification (I mean it's COVID years). Perhaps look into live streaming. All will be well, and you just have to worry about keeping cool in Chicago August weather.

Awesome, thanks Michelle..you're right! I have a chronic condition called, "make everyone happy", 😆. Funny you sound just like my MOH & best-friend. Her name is Michelle too!

If your wedding is in Chicago, there are countless hotels and modes of transportation as options. Your guests are adults - let them figure it out. It’s nice of you to want to accommodate, but it really isn’t necessary. Especially in a major city.
