Transportation for Guests

Jennifer, on September 10, 2021 at 12:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Our ceremony and reception venues are at different locations. It's about 10 minutes away. Both venues have plenty of parking space. We have an estimated 70-80 guests total. Should I provide shuttle or bus transportation for my guests and if I do, how much should I expect to spend on average?

It's totally up to you on whether to provide transportation! Cost completely depends on location and the company. Keep in mind that transportation companies often have a minimum number of hours that you'd have to book them for, even if you only needed them for an hour. Another thing to consider is where your guests will park. Are you going to have them park at the reception space and then shuttle them to the ceremony and then back to the reception space after the ceremony? Or have them park at the ceremony location and shuttle them to the reception space (and then back to the ceremony location to get their cars after the reception)? Since the two venues are fairly close and both have plenty of parking, I would honestly skip the shuttle and save the money.

You're right! And since you need a car to get to our destination wedding anyway (either driving all the way or getting a rental car from the airport and driving 1.5 hours), all guests are probably going to have some sort of vehicle. I was going to see if there was a point to point transportation between the Reception and Ceremony venue and how much that would cost. But, I'll probably just save the money (unless my fiancé insists we provide transportation between venues...).

I’ve seen some people share that they’ve had Uber or Lyft services. I think they give a code or something to guests. I’m unsure 100% how it works, but can be an option to look into.

Oh that’s a good one! I’m not sure if Uber or Lyft operates here in Eureka Springs though. My drinking out has significantly decreased since we moved here because of that.

Whatever you decide on, make it known clearly to the guests so they know if they need a DD or can get hammered lol.

Hmmm... why would they get hammered at the ceremony venue? They'll mostly likely get hammered at the reception venue after and then crash in their room, no? (Assuming they book a hotel room at the reception venue... if they don't, that's on them lol)
