Transportation from Reception

Sara, on April 11, 2022 at 8:19 PM Posted in Planning 14 12

Some of the the members of my wedding party asked if I was providing a bus/shuttle/limo from the reception to the hotel (which is 15 minutes away). I already booked a “send off car” for my fiancé and I.

1) Do you think the wedding party needs transportation?
2) If they do need transportation, how do we work the logistics for the send off? Leave the parking lot and circle back to pick up the bridal party?
Need advice 🤣

Are the members of the wedding party being transported under any power other than their own *to* the venue? Unless they won't have their vehicles with them, because of arrangements y'all have made, I see no reason to provide transportation from the venue to the hotel. They can call a cab or get an uber if they aren't okay to drive.

We aren’t providing formal transportation from salon to venue so it’ll be up to significant others or the bridal party members to drive themselves to the venue.

Is the hotel their lodging for the night? Every wedding we have attended, the wedding party has arranged their own transportation. Whether in their own vehicles or they call a cab.

Good question! The hotel is where we are staying along with the wedding party

I would tell them, then, that transportation back to the hotel is not something you will be providing (and I'll second Michelle, I've never attended a wedding at which the wedding party was provided transportation by the couple)

It's a nice thing to do, and very common in my experience, but you're not obligated. I see no reason why they can't get their own Ubers

Once you have there send of then the wedding party will have a ride back or they can get a lyft or a uber back to the hotel. But arrangements have been made for then to go to other room if we havent gone back to the room.

I personally think it’s absolutely necessary. I would recommend getting a second car for the bridal party. You can set up point to point drop off that will cost you less than booking a car for the day. We pay about 189.00 one way in Los Angeles when we rent them for various events and are renting cars for guest who live in LA but don’t want to make the drive to Riverside which is 1 1/2 away. I just think it’s a nice courtesy if you can afford the expense.

I've seen couples arrange a shuttle from the reception to the hotel for all their guests, but never anything specifically for the bridal party. If it's only 15 minutes away then Ubers/ Lyfts shouldn't be too expensive for them to foot.

The city we’re getting married in does not allow Lyft or Uber, and cabs are uncommon, and since we’re getting married on NYE, it just feels safer for us to rent a shuttle. It’s a considerable added expense, but it feels like the best option for us. If Uber, Lyft, or cabs are common in the area where you’re getting married, and you aren’t providing a shuttle to your other guests, I don’t think you need to provide one just for the bridal party.

The area we're getting married in is pretty remote, so very few ubers/lyfts. So we decided it was worth it to pay for a shuttle to and from the venue/hotel for not only our guests but our wedding party at the end of the night. We didn't want anyone driving drunk or getting lost in a dark/remote area
