Transportation??

Jasmin, on October 11, 2019 at 9:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 25

What did everyone do (or what are you going to do) for transportation on your wedding day? I'm having an extremely hard time justifying a party bus/limo when we only need it for a few hours. My FH, however, is worried about us stressing over logistics and just wants to bite the bullet and pay for it. I should mention that our ceremony and reception are at a church and hall which are a block apart, but we will be traveling off-site to get photos taken. I'd love to hear everyone's input!

Transportation was never something I considered paying for lol. We'll all just be driving our own vehicles/carpooling wherever it makes sense. I really could only see providing transportation if the ceremony venue and reception venue were a long drive.

Our ceremony and reception are at the same location so we didn't have to worry about transportation, but my brother's wedding was two different locations. They were about 10 minutes from each other. My brother paid to have a trolley transport to bridal party and our parents and mother of the bride (bride's father didn't attend). I believe they paid a few hundred dollars to rent the trolley. It was worth it so no one had to worry about transportation.

However, with the reception only a block away from the church I would probably just walk, but I think if the weather is had that could be an issue. Also, since you plan on taking photos somewhere else you'd have to figure out how to get to that other place especially if it is far away.

Right, that's how I feel but my FH doesn't want to have to wrangle our bridal party to go get photos and wait forever for them to show up. I get where he's coming from but we are all adults right?? Just show up??? Lol

Yeah, they want $650 for 2 hours of transportation. It's not a huge cost but I just can't seem to justify it in my mind. At this point, I'd rather rent a 15 seater van for $100 and be done with it!

One would think they are adults, but unfortunately it isn't always that simple. No matter what you decide you will still have to wrangle your bridal party because you'd have to get them on the bus or in the van. With my brother's wedding which I was the maid of honor in we had to wait for people to get on the trolley before we could go anyway. I remember having to basically grab my parents get them on the trolley.

Sigh. That's exactly what I don't want! My FH gets super agitated when people are disrespectful of his time but I'll let him know that a bus might not help the situation anyway!

We have two SUV's both 8 seaters but we planned on leaving those at the hotel or the reception all. I don't have a poofy dress so we could probably fit if we just found other ways to get our car later on.

My husband is the same way, but it is bound to happen. We though we didn't travel for our wedding we had to wrangle our bridal party when it came time for the big introduction. They were all over the place. One bridesmaid couldn't find her flowers so we had to wait for her to locate them. Others were busy drinking. It wasn't fun at all, but we sorted it out.

Yeah, my bridal party knows I'm a bit of a bridezilla so there is no drinking until we get to the reception hall to try and keep them at least semi-interested until then haha!

Our hotel is literally a block away from the venue. Its in August so I will not be walking. street. I plan on renting a utility van and paying my younger brother to drive us and guest who need it. Same back to the hotel. We will return it the next monring. $175 bucks vs uber, limo, etc.

I wish my bridal party had been that respectful. As soon as the ceremony was over and cocktail hour started they went to grab alcohol even though they were supposed to be getting pictures with us. My photographer and I literally had to yell at some of them to put their bottles somewhere else because we were taking photos and I didn't want alcohol bottles in my wedding photos with my bridal party.

Okay, that's what I was thinking! Even hiring someone to just drive people around would be cheaper and a better budget-friendly option at this point because we'd at least have the van for the whole day!

None of our wedding party drove, and neither did we. We knew we would be drinking, so didn't want to risk it. We hired a shuttle for wedding party & a limo for us.

The two 8 person van sounds like a good compromise. Put two people in charge of driving and also wrangling people. That seems like a win win

Being that we are staying at our venue before and after, we aren't doing transpo. What we are doing, however, is having our guests park at a shop near by and we will have the people with bigger vehicles shuttle those with smaller vehicles out to the cabin and back whenever they're ready to go home. Or well be heading a convoy. Itll depend on parking availability

At my sisters wedding they rented a trolley!! It was adorable and fun and made for some great photos. It was also much cheaper than a limo.

We want to have the ceremony and the reception at the same venue to cut down on any sort of confusion and to make things easier for some of the elderly members of our family. The only transportation we will need is transportation from the venue to the hotel we will spend the night at, and I really want to get a vintage car with a driver.
