Trash the dress/donating/or selling pros and cons

Is trashing the dress still a thing? It seems that is all I saw last year on my newlywed brides facebook feeds. I loved some of the photography, and well, it would be awesome to wear the dress one more time. Then the dress, is well ... trashed, and you can't do anything with it. Who plans on doing...

Who plans on doing this or has done it? Tempted.

Another consideration is donating it to brides with cancer, or military brides. I filled out the form to see whether or not the military brides organization would accept my gown, and they responded they would. I think because it is classic A-line, and unaltered, they wanted it. They don't take every gown.

Then, there is selling, which to me, the used wedding gown market seems very over saturated. Has anyone actually had success in selling their gown? And for how much less than they paid? How long did it take?? The online wedding dress ads are enormous, I can see mine getting lost in a listing.

@Kathleen S., my avatar is a picture of our wedding venue. I am very proud of it. It is a photographer's dream to photograph there. It is in Danvers, MA. An historic estate, built in the 1800's, with award winning gardens. It is gorgeous there year round too. I will include a couple of pictures from our florist who also loved the setting.

I've been trying to sell my original wedding dress online for the last 4 months (everywhere from Craigslist to WW Facebook to PreOwnedWeddingDresses). I'm finally getting bites from people but I had to DEEPLY discount the dress (and it's brand new, never worn or altered.) Trashing the dress never seems really ideal, so I would go the donation route if the dress never sold.

Oh I forgot to mention, it is Glen Magna Farms. While there is a farm on the property, our wedding wasn't considered a "barn" wedding or anything. It was held in the gardens, and reception inside historic mansion. I love the place.
