Travel/Adventure Themed Centerpieces and Table Names?

SoontoBeMrsBatdorf, on November 7, 2015 at 9:05 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

Ok, I need some help... my FH and I have been slowly figuring out our centerpieces. I will post pictures of what we have so far. We are going to go with white table linens instead of the orange that is pictured though. My question is what can I add to what we have to go with our theme? I already have my card box I'm working on that's a suitcase to go with the theme. We were going to put sea shells from the beach when we went this past year but someone brought up they didn't think that went with the theme and probably wouldn't look well. Should I do different confetti around each one? I was thinking of having table names of different places like Paris, Rome, etc. Places we would like to visit. So maybe have confetti to go along with what the table name is? Am I thinking into this too much? Thanks in advance! I should add that half of my tables are going to have the tall ones and the other half the ones that set directly on the mirror if that matters.

I agree I don't think the shells work. How about small tea lights. Also check with your venue to see if confetti/glitter is allowed. Some don't allow it. We did a travel theme also and kept the table simple with flowers, tea lights, lanterns and used places we have traveled to as our table numbers.

    Eta: to add picture

I agree that I wouldn't do the shells, but that it does need something else. I'm not quite sure what though. Maybe some greenery or something around the mirror. Or maybe change out the mirror for something else. I would add attn Centerpiece to the title, so you make sure she sees it. I'm sure she will have some great ideas.

I also agree, the shells are a bit outside of your theme. What if you were to add some adventure books or some type of book into the setting? I saw this on pinterest, thought it was cute,

Another vote for too outside your theme. I think a postcard (either current or vintage) and some books would look great. If you want confetti (and your venue allows it) you could get a map of each table location and a heart paper punch-out and use that to decorate while staying on theme.

Agree with nixing the seashells. I'd add vintage books, table numbers that are maps or postcards, heart confetti punched out from a map, mini globes, etc. I just saw these little hot air balloon things, to me this is really cute!

Also, I don't know if you have your escort cards decided, but I just saw this and thought it was adorable, and if I was having a travel wedding I'd totally do this!

Having been to two weddings in the past year-- one with table numbers and one designated by bags of seeds, I am *imploring* you to go with numbers. Yeah, numbers are boring, but they immediately give your guests a clue where *their* table should be. Just cause this table is 'corn' does not tell me where to find 'peas'.

Hahahaha I love the corn and peas example Smiley smile what if I do both? Like have them named but the number below them on the same cardstock?

I'm also doing table names (of trees) and not numbers, and I've been to weddings that have numbers and names. Will it take your guests longer to find their table? Probably. Will it take them longer than 3 minutes? No. If you want names, do names!

This was my friend's theme this past summer. For centerpieces they used old books from thrift stores, old looking envelopes with a custom stamp of their info, and used free little shipping boxes from USPS wrapped in brown paper tied with twine and also stamped. They also incorporated old looking maps. Wish I took pictures, but they had too many people (400+) and it was not organized well....anyhow, I've included some pictures to help show what I mean.

You can use maps for the background on your table numbers/names. If you do names, maybe have a different centerpiece representing different cities/countries you have visited or hope to visit one day?

I don't think table names are that bad if you are having around 10 tables. Now, if you are having a large wedding and using 20 tables I would say stick with numbers. Although you could do both, 1-Rome, 2-Paris, etc.

We did map centerpieces. If you're interested in adding "map" elements, Etsy has tons of stuff (confetti, garlands, flowers, etc). Otherwise, I suggest just searching "travel" on Etsy, under the wedding tab/button, it will give you tons of inspiration Smiley smile

ETA: The pic looks funny, lol. The lighter flowers are made of maps, the bigger ones are just blue.
