Traveling out of state for your wedding

Nelena, on February 14, 2022 at 2:07 PM Posted in Planning 7 7

Is anyone traveling for their wedding?? If so, how did you go about it with inviting guest and everything?? We live in pa and are thinking of going down south to get married.

We didn't, however, your invitation process will be essentially the same. You'll likely want to send save the dates 10-12 months ahead (once you have your venue nailed down) so that people have time to make reservations, but then you'll send invitations 6-8 weeks ahead of time. As a side note - down south is a big place, you'll likely want to narrow it before you start trying to find venues

We got married four hours from where we lived and most of our guests lived about 1.5-2 hours from our venue. A few lived even further. We sent out save the dates about eight months prior to the wedding to give everyone time to plan. Then we sent out invites about 8 weeks prior to the wedding. We had no issues with guests traveling.

We're going to Puerto Rico for our wedding at the end of January '23, and most family lives in Kansas/Missouri. We'll be sending out our save the dates first week of March (after we get back from my future brother in law's wedding) so about 10 months ahead of time to give people time to plan and budget. Then we'll probably send out invitations mid November so that they don't get lost in the holiday card rush. With enough notice it will be fine!

Congratulations!! We live 7-8 hours depending on which way you drive. But there’s options for train and plane as well. My fiancés dad wants to either fly or take the train. But thank you for letting me know how you did things definitely has me thinking a little more on the positive side

Treat it like a destination wedding because that's what it is.
