True Blood vs Vampire Diaries? (I'm a vampire book nerd, sorry)

*~WiiFeY~*, on March 28, 2011 at 5:11 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

Okay, so if you asked me a few years ago I would tell you I was NOT into science fiction or pretty much anything not realistic when it came to reading. I just liked typical cheesy love stories. But lately I've been into different kinds of books, but nothing TOO out there. Anyway.. I've been reading the "House of Night" series, and finished the one most recently out. And now I need something to read, and I'm looking on Amazon for a good series to download on Kindle!

To those who have read both books, or have heard input.. Which series is better? True Blood or Vampire Diaries?

Sookie Stackhouse wins!! Admittedly, I haven't read the Vampire Diaries. I did read up on it, but wasn't interested in the plot. I have read EVERY single one of Charlaine Harris's Sookie books (the next one comes out in May and I am sooo excited!).

Plus...Who can't love Eric Northman? Seriously! I can't figure out if I like the tv or book version of him better!

I've never watched the show.. I was so confused, because my friend keeps telling me to read "True Blood." And I've read a lot of people on FB saying things about Sookie Stackhouse books, and I was thinking about reading those, but decided to try out True Blood or Vampire Diaries, because of what my friend suggested.. And I kept searching "True Blood" on Amazon, and Sookie Stackhouse kept coming up! Then my friend cleared it all up for me.. They're one in the same haha Smiley winking

Lol, yes, they are! You might check the author's website to see the order of the books. I had trouble when I first started reading them telling which book came first.

I really enjoyed them, they're just fun! Of course, I also think the Twilight books are fun...lol. I like the romance aspect of it all. You might check out Katie MacAlister's books, too, she has vampires and other paranormal stuff that's fun.

Well...I haven't read the books, but I LOVE Vampire Diaries. I'm not typically into the whole vampire trend, but the series has become kind of a guilty pleasure. I enjoy the plot, drama, and romance. Or it could have something to do with how hot Ian Somerhalder is....

I'll have to google him.. Books are so much better when I can put a sexy face to the sexy character Smiley smile haha

I enjoyed the book "Dear John" so much more when I learned that Channing Tatum would be playing the role in the movie. (I started the book right as the previews came out.) It made it SO much

I've read the first vampire diaries book, though my local library on my nook, and wasn't that impressed. It was interesting, but the calibre of writing wasn't that great and I felt like it was more of a young adult (13-16) book. I haven't read any of the Sookie Stackhouse books yet, I should put those on my list to see if they're availble as ebooks from my library.

Wow Future Mrs Wells! That's good input, since you've read them all. How did you like House of Night? I felt like they could get kind of cheesy but overall I like them Smiley smile

I watch both TV series. I tried reading Vampire Diary, but it felt way too young for me. I LOVE the True Blood books though!

I am a huge vampire book nerd haha! It is sad but true, I think I have read them all. The House of Night Series, Sookie Stackhouse/ Southern Vampire Tales, Harper Connelly Series (Also by Charlaine Harries), Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress, Twilight, Anna Strong Series, The Hollows series by Kim Harrison and more recently Bitten and Smitten by Michelle Rowen.

I commute so I have a lot of reading time but my all time favorite is the Sookie Stackhouse series. I love the HBO show too but it departs from the books after season one. They to do match in points and the show is drawn from the books but does follow it exactly. I would highly recommend all Charlaine Harris books too!

PS. Any new suggestions are welcome, pretty much any chick-lits Smiley smile

Also I love 4shared.com for downloading free pdf of almost all these books. I read about few books a week so this saves me a ton!

I have to stray from both. Kim Harisson and The Hollows series....My favorite though is Laurell K. Hamilton and her Anita Blake series.
