Trying to keep things somewhat traditional

on January 8, 2021 at 11:06 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 5
We are on our second round of wedding planning and decided to things a little different with our small (ish) wedding. Our ceremony will be in a small courtyard outside of our venue and the reception will be inside. We’ve decided to have my bridesmaids change from our original matching champagne bridesmaids dresses, to mix match burgundy, pink, and red formal gowns (all different gowns but the same fun, silky, formal gown style), and they will sit front row after walking down the aisle paired with a groomsmen.

We are having a religious ceremony but are stumped on music.

Should we go with the traditional wedding music to walk down to? Or something more contemporary and personal?
Since we’re going a different style for our party, I wanted to keep things as traditional as I can but love the idea of a more fun and personal ceremony. What are you all doing for music?

Great question Morgan!! Originally we were going to wed in a big cathedral and had Ave Maria planned. Well, covid came and the church couldn’t have us inside. Changed music to classical for the prelude (my husband is a cellist) so we did Vivaldi “Spring” and Debussy “Arabasque”. Grandparents and parents walked down the aisle to Over the Rainbow by IZ and I walked down the aisle to The Prayer by Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli (my first song choice actually when we got engaged). Outdoor, religious ceremony but with a hint of contemporary ❤️ Hope this helps!!

Since you're not marrying in a house of worship, you can use any music and are not limited to religious only.

Do you have any favorite music? Take a look at ceremony music playlists on youtube for inspiration.

That's a tough question. I, personally would do traditional music.

I've been to several religious weddings where the bride and groom didnt choose to go with traditional music, even in a church. One of my friends walked down the aisle to "Waiting on a Woman". Another walked down to music that sounded medieval to match the vibe of her fantasy wedding. Both still considered traditional due to the content of the wedding (like the father giving away the daughter, the reading of religious passage, etc). It's really up to what you want to do.

This are my options of songs/music for my Catholic Church Wedding

    1 - Entry of the groom & honors:Kenny G (Forever In Love)
2 - Entry of the flower girl:John Legend (All of me)
3 - Entry of the brideMendelssohn (Wedding March)
4 - Exit of the coupleColdplay (Viva La Vida)
I am trying to keep tradicional also, but I choose musics that was very personal to me.
