Trying to start a joint Honeymoon account - recommened accounts/banks?

Emily, on January 10, 2019 at 11:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

My FH and I are keeping our accounts separate before the wedding, but we want to create a joint savings account for us to each contribute monthly to for our Honeymoon. Are there any particular banks you recommend using and had good rates with, etc? I'm also torn about whether we should make just a savings or a checking/savings. We wouldn't have direct deposit going into the checking account though so maybe it isnt worth opening up yet?

I’d recommend going with a local credit union for sure

Hi Emily! I agree with Sunshine, a locally based bank/credit union would probably be your best bet. I would also just set up a savings account, not savings/checking. At least with my local bank, a savings account gets slightly better interest rates and I know exactly what amount of money is in there because I put it in there or I take it out.

Actually Synchrony has a great online high-yield savings account. Interest rate is about 2%
