Tulle on illusion top causing redness

snowbride, on December 15, 2015 at 9:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

My wedding dress has a beautiful illusion halter neckline. I don't notice any discomfort or rubbing (as I have with other tulle tops), but the tops still makes my neck turn red after only a few minutes. My seamstress suggested applying a powder foundation to help prevent redness. I do have a translucent powder that I use to help set my makeup, but I was just curious if there were any other tips/tricks that could help hide or reduce the redness caused by the dress.

Clear deodorant. Not sure if you want that all over your chest but I've used it for dresses causing redness on my back/sides before.

When you say "clear deodorant" are you talking about the gel kind? I have used Dove deodorant for years, so I don't even know what else is out there! Smiley smile

I've heard that body glide which is an anti chafing product is sometimes used when someone has this problem on either then neck or arms. I hope you find something!

Haha sorry, basically just anything that goes on clear and doesn't leave white powder everywhere. Gel kind would get messy.

I had the same thought about the gel, which is why I asked. I am not opposed to rubbing some good smelling deodorant on my chest as long as it looks like it isn't there!

I have been reading about the anti-chafing stuff. I wasn't sure if it worked for just irritation since it's not really chafing.

Good thing is I have time to try different things out, bad thing is my dress is with the seamstress, so I don't have opportunity to try it on often! I will go prepared to my next fitting and try out method A and see how it works. Smiley smile

This happened to me, and my seamstress added a very thin line of satin around the edge of the neckline, which stopped the irritation. Since I had some beading around the neckline, you couldn't see the satin at all but it was so much more comfortable.
