Tungsten Vs 14k Gold

Hi! My FH and I are shopping for his wedding ring. I've read that lately a lot of people decided to buy tungsten instead of gold. Tungsten rings are cheaper than gold and FH is leaning toward the cheaper one bc he's saying that its unnecessary to spend the additional money for something that looks similar and that he doesn't care about the type of metal. He's saying all that maters is the symbolism. While I think that's cute and all, since thankfully money is not really an issue for us I'd rather invest in something that will keep its value in the long run and can be maybe passed down. What do you guys think? Pros and cons??

My husband did tungsten but unfortunately his ring is about half a size too big and they can't be resized. I've offered to buy a new ring but I want to keep the original ring because that's what we said our vows with. He refuses and I'm always concerned he's going to lose it. My brother also did tungsten and his ring has broken twice. Yes they are less expensive and my husband likes the charcoal gray color but there are some cons to a tungsten ring too.
