Tux and Suit Rentals

Jennifer, on November 3, 2021 at 4:02 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
I had originally budgeted $3000 for everyone’s wedding attire (including my dress, shoes, accessories). It’s customary in my culture to pay for the wedding party’s attire. I’ve been looking at Black Tux since I get some offers from David’s Bridal, where I got my wedding dress, and it’s easy to coordinate with the bridesmaids dresses. But, after looking at the prices for their rentals and average bridesmaid dresses from David’s Bridal, I’m already sitting at around $3500 (with my dress, which was $1000) without any alterations. I mean, I’m fine increasing the budget, but is this price pretty typical? I know I want the guys to match exactly and when I tried to see maybe I can save by buying all of them ties, it came out to be around the same anyway. I do have a $200 off coupon, but still… Are there tux and suit rental places with better prices or is this pretty average? This was for 5 suits, 2 tuxedos, and 4 dresses (=$2500 - $200 = $2300).

I just checked Lulu’s bridesmaid dresses and they are easily half of David’s Bridals! And I absolutely love their dresses. So, I may go with that. But, I’m not very familiar with tux and suit rentals. I’d greatly appreciate any tips and advice there!

Azazie is another option for dresses with great prices, and you can buy matching ties from there as well. Tux rentals at Men's Wearhouse run about $200 per person. Based on your post, it isn't clear how much of that $2300 is per suit/tux since dresses at David's Bridal range in price as well.

I would just get swatches from DB & go somewhere else. We went to Mens wearhouse for the groomsmen. The color wasn't the same name but matched very well.

Tux and suites were both around $250 but that includes shoes, belt, pocket square, tie, and shirt. The Tux itself is around $175. The Suit itself is $145 with a vest for $25.

From what I understand that price is pretty typical for tuxedo and suit rental.

https://nationaltuxedorentals.com/ has stuff for a lower price but the quality isn't as good as The Black Tux.

Oh I should have told you the total. So, I just looked at the Black Tux Savings I get. 5 suites and 2 tux would be $1725. With our savings, take off $200 total and $20 each rental so it would come out to be $1385, which would also be around $200 per tux. But, I see that Men’s Wearhouse includes a lot more like cuff links and socks in their price. Still, I think they’re pretty comparable unless Men’s Wearhouse also offers discounts per rental package.

My husband is a groomsmen in an upcoming wedding, and he had his fitting recently at Men's Wearhouse, and the charge was $150. I know they include all that stuff in their rentals as well. I would definitely check them out to.

Okay! That’s what I was thinking. I compared with Men’s Wearhouse and with the additional savings I get, it does come to around $200 per rental anyway. Black Tux quality is probably a bit better than Men’s Wearhouse, too.

Was the quality good? I guess the best thing is for me to just visit both places to check the Tux/Suits out and what I had in mind.

We used them for our wedding a few years back, and they were good. I don't know what the tux looks like for this upcoming wedding, as I wasn't there for the fitting. However, most of their rentals are name brands like Calvin Klein, Joseph Abboud, and Vera Wang.

In terms of rentals - Black Tux is the best quality that I'm aware of.

We got our groomsmen suits from black tux for 225 each. Bridesmaids dresses are fun Azazie and pretty much match to a T! The bridesmaid dresses were 79$ each.

What type of suits did they use? My fiancé was in a wedding last year and the rental was almost $300 from there!

Nice! I decided to go with Infinity/Convertible Dresses for my Bridesmaids and MOH (hers is a velvet kind). It's a lot easier on me and it was actually a 3x less than the David's Bridal dresses. Also, like 3 of my ladies are planning on getting pregnant next year or would have been just a few months from delivering so infinity dresses will definitely be the way to go for my party. I found them on Etsy for like $60 and I'm letting them wear it however they feel comfortable. I consider it a win-win! And yes, we are going with Black Tux as well even if it's slightly more expensive than Men's Wearhouse. I keep reading horror stories on Men's Wearhouse and I really don't want to deal with that haha. Plus, I wanted my brothers (my bridesmen haha) to wear those dapper Burgundy tuxedos! Haha! They're going to kill me.

Yes the horrible reviews were why I chose black tux also!

I have no idea, as I wasn't at the fitting. My husband just said "it's blue" so I'll see when we're at the wedding I'm a few weeks lol. We used them for our wedding, and we chose medium gray tuxes and the cost came out to somewhere between $200-$250.

I bought my girls their dresses online for $69 each from Birdy Grey. They are convertible dresses. I wanted them to look the same, but styled differently. However, just be cautious because some of their dresses do run smaller. So its important to read the reviews and the disclaimers.
As for the guys, they all have a rental tux because they don't wear tuxedos often. They got it from men's warehouse. The cheapest was $99 and they got the whole thing! jacket, pants, shirt, tie or bow, vest, and shoes! The only thing is it is not fitted. So, if the guys want something fitted they will have to buy their own to get it altered to their liking.

Nice! I’m getting our convertible dresses from Etsy. They have One Size Fits All regular and plus sizes and a velvet version (for my MOH). And I think they were $50-80 depending on if you get the regular, plus, or velvet version. I think we are going to go with The Black Tux even if it’s more expensive. I’ve heard so many horror stories with Men’s Wearhouse lol. My older brother was just part of a wedding where they used The Black Tux and he said it was very seamless, easy, and really high quality! And they let you do alterations to the rentals.

That's a good deal for the convertible Etsy dresses! I love Etsy. And yeah we never used men's warehouse for tuxedos before so we had a little bit of trouble here and there with some of the guys suits, but they were able to fix it thank goodness! We were stressing about that for a minute lol.
