Hi ladies,

What tux color is your FH wearing? Also, what color shirt? White, ivory, gray? Is he wearing a vest? I know that we won't have to make this decision until closer to the date but just concerned that the white shirt will clash with an ivory dress, particularly when the jacket is off. I want the pictures to look nice!

Also, my dress was ivory and it didn't look weird next to him! Ivory shirts tend to look dirty and dingy. I'm glad we had him wear a vest to differentiate him and the GM from other guests when the dancing started and jackets came off!

I'll be in a dress that's champagne and ivory, and FH will be in a medium-tone grey suit with a blue shirt and yellow/blue tie. I was a little worried about the color issue with his shirt, too, but he really wanted to wear a blue shirt anyway. Win, win!

White! The ivory shirt looked tea stained to me. Even with my dress being not white it looked great. We did goldish/yellow vests. The family picture!

Beautiful pictures! I don't understand why people say that ivory shirts look dirty and dingy. That's like saying an ivory dress looks dirty and dingy because it isn't white. I'm sure there are various shades of ivory that a groom can wear that are close to white. I also love the idea of being different and wearing a completely different color.

@Happy B - all the tux and formal menswear shops we went to advised against ivory shirts!

@annakay511 So funny because I was reading about this and a bride said everywhere she went, they kept telling her to buy ivory and she was getting mad cuz she disliked the ivory shirts lol I guess I just have to look at the shirts myself. I don't mind the white shirt when it's hidden behind the jacket but I think it makes quite a contrast with a darker ivory dress, (which is what mine is) when the jacket is off. Hopefully I will find an option that will work well.

Gray tux, gray vest, white shirt and aqua (or in that family) tie or bow-tie.

I'm not sure what color my dress will be, but it won't be white. I want ivory, champagne, or dusty blush. So FH's shirt will likely be ivory. He'll wear a suit with a vest and tie, not a tux. I never had prom so colored vests look awesome to me; however FH is thinking he wants a vest that matches the suit. Options we want to look into are wolf gray (gray with brownish tint), navy, and dark beige. FH vetoed burgundy lol!

My DH wore a black on black tux with a white tie, handkerchief, and lapel with black suspenders instead of a vest. We wanted a very fitted modern look.

I'm letting him choose and I think he is choosing a black suit, black shirt and red tie (I have to agree he looks better with the black shirt and red tie) and I'm not sure about a vest

We went with light gray for the groom, slightly darker for all the other guys. He's wearing a white shirt, since my dress is white. The tux rental shop suggested the shirts should match my dress.

DH wore black on black with an orange vest, tie, and pocket square. He wanted to stand out. Our GMs and RB wore grey with ivory shirts and royal blue vests, ties, and pocket squares. My dress was ivory and we were strongly advised to avoid bright whites. Personal preference, I don't like white next to ivory. I am also partial to creams over bright white anyways, so it is really all about your preference.

Thanks ladies! I didn't think about a black shirt. Another option!

@Samantha I LOVE that you posted those pics because I am doing black tuxes, black shirts, no vest, plum ties and plum pocket squares. It's hard to find pictures of guys wearing all black but I thought it would look awesome. Your pic proves it does!

Dark grey suit, grey vest, grey tie, and a black undershirt. He looks good in tone on tone, so I'm really excited thats what he chose!

Black tux, probably white shirt, and a burgundy cummerbund and bow tie. The cummerbund and tie are all he talks about. I wish he'd wear a vest/tie, but it's his wedding too. Lol.
