Tux or no tux?

Jasmine, on July 21, 2020 at 9:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Okay so I want my man to be in a fitted nice tux for our wedding. And like completely black tux. And I wanted my maid of honor(it’s my brother) and his best man to be in black tux’s with grey vest and tie and our dads to be in grey tux’s with black vest and ties. HOWEVER! We are getting married in Colorado in July(next year) and it’s definitely going to be hot. So I’m trying to think of alternate outfits for them to wear that they won’t be sweating horribly but also still look classy and put together.

Please post pictures of ideas I could maybe run with! 🥰 thank you 🖤

We got married in July last year on one of the hottest days of the year. The guys wore tuxes. My husband, the groomsmen, and the bride's man (my brother) wore black tuxes with white shirts and vests and ties that matched the bridesmaids' dresses. My dad wore a grey tux with a white shirt and grey vest and tie. Our wedding was indoors so the heat was really a problem. They took a few outdoor photos, but in the shade and they were outside for maybe ten minutes if that. During the reception, they removed their tux jackets and just wore their vests, ties and shirts. Tuxes are the most formal attire for a guy to wear so depending on how formal your wedding is going to be it might seem odd if they aren't in tuxes.

I live in CO and I get cold easily but I am overheating in shorts right now. Unless the ceremony and reception are both indoors with the AC blasting I would skip tuxes. I’d make outdoor photos very quick without jackets. I like Melle’s idea above.

I would definitely not put them in vests and jackets if they will be outside. Even by 10am I feel like it’s too hot already and my kids are ready to start playing in water. I think dress shirts and suspenders look nice, but what does your FH think? My FH told me to tell him what to wear, but the more I asked for input the more input he started giving me- it is his attire and his day too. I’m partial to white dress shirts, but you could always do grey, wedding colors, or even black if you wanted to. It’ll still be hot, but at least dress shirts are breathable. I barely want to wear a shirt most afternoons, so wearing dress pants, a dress shirt, a vest, and potentially a jacket sounds miserable.

Ours will be in late June so it'll be hot, also. We're doing an outside ceremony and inside cocktail hour/reception, so we're going with tuxes. The ceremony will be 20 minutes max, so I'm hoping they'll be fine for 20 minutes.

I think you could do tuxes if the ceremony was short and there weren't too many pictures taken outside!

There are some nice summer looks you can check out in this article: 8 Summer Wedding Outfits For Grooms - a navy suit could be a good crisp compromise, and anything linen will definitely be lighter weight for the guys!
