Tux Rentals - Men's Warehouse or Jos A Banks??

Elizabeth, on March 20, 2013 at 6:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I want to get the tux rentals off the list soon and I'm pretty sure my fiance doesn't care what place we go with as long as the price is reasonable and the quality is good. Please let me know if you'd recommend one over the other.

Price?

Selection?

Quality?

Overall Experience?

Thanks!!

We looked at Men's Wearhouse and Savvi. We liked Savvi much better. So many more options for color, style, etc and it was also cheaper. We didn't like our experience at Men's Wearhouse as much... they were much more helpful at Savvi. I have heard that Jos A Banks has great deals too but we didn't go there.

We went with Men's Warehouse because it ended up being about $60 cheaper per tux than Jos A Banks. The selections seemed about the same.

Thank you both! I like the idea of saving $60 if there isn't a difference. I haven't heard of Savvi but will check it out too!

We are going with men's warehouse. Never been to J.A.B. We are getting suits, not tuxes, and the guys are able to BUY their suits for less than it would be to rent tuxes. Our guy we are working with is letting us use a bridal show coupon of 50% off, even though it technically expires at the end of the month. So now, each guy (who are all mostly out of college and looking for jobs), will have their very own suit to enter the workforce. Smiley smile And they will be tailored to fit perfectly, unlike tuxes, which are always ginormous in weird places for my FH, who is a stick.

We used Savvi and it was AWFUL. The BM almost didn't have pants. It took them three attempts to get him pants and he had to sneak out of the rehearsal dinner to go pick them up (I had no idea this was going on). His backup plan was to take one of the crappy tuxedos to Barneys and buy the closest one. Half of the groomsmen were missing the hardware they needed, others had two sets. One GM did not try on his shirt as he had rented the exact same tuxedo for a different wedding two weeks prior. He told Savvi to give him the same size and they screwed up as his shirt collar was two small.

I have heard similar things about Men's Warehouse.

If I would go back in time I would have used https://theblacktux.com/

Unfortunately, my coworker that told me about the website told me after the wedding Smiley sad

We went to J.A.B. mostly because FH prefers their service over Men's Warehouse. He seemed happy with the deal he got on the tuxes.

We haven't decided yet but we are leaning towards Jos a Banks because they work in conjunction with Alfred Angelo which is where we got ALL of our dresses... Plus they are advertising the groom is free so I hope that's true.

We went to Men's Wearhouse. We got one of their deals-groom's tux free, $40 off each tux for the guys (with so many rentals). They were recommended by a few of my friends (no one had problems...so I'm hoping that goes for us too).

My FI didn't like any of MW suits or tuxes--he thought they all looked "promish"--so we went with JAB. It's much more expensive, but his priority is style over funds for this. The problem that we've encountered with JAB is that they're newer to the rental market, so you have to order which ones you wants to try on, and you can only order 2 suits/tuxes at a time. So we've had to go there multiple times. We just re-ordered the top two he likes, so hopefully he'll make a decision after this next trip there.

We went with President Tuxedo for the guys tuxes. I went to Men's Warehouse first, thinking that's where we were going to find the best deal. But I agree 100% with Ashley S...unless you buy your girl's dresses from DB (which I did not), good luck finding a coordinating color. They asked me THREE times if I had used DB for the girls dresses...no...no...and no. Asked for my deposit twice after I said they didn't have a color I could use. Overall experience was frustrating and crappyyyyyy.

Our tuxes from President are $175/each. We got 2 free tuxes (we have a total of 18 guys), $350 towards anyone (we can split it between two people for them to get free tuxes or an even split with everyone). Father's tuxes are half off. Oh, and the best part?? TWO FREE AIRLINE TICKETS that are good for a year!! Seriously. What a deal! We just got our list of places, and there's over 500 resorts/destinations to choose from! Smiley smile

Why can he only try on 2 suits at a time? That seems like a pain to make multiple trips.

We found that choosing a local formal wear shop was cheaper than JAB or MW. Actually, JAB is authorized dealer for Jim's Formal Wear, which is who we ordered our tuxes from at a local shop for a lower price. We still received FH tux for free and they incorporated an additional $40 off each tux.

We would have gone with Jos A Banks since we really liked their selection but being as we our out of town for a week for the wedding, the rental for all of the tuxes would have been crazy. Instead, we are purchasing the pants and shirts for our GM and purchased the colored vests from Men's Warehouse since they will sell the same styles and colors of vests as they rent.

My fiancee is buying his suite from Mens Warehouse. Friars was our next option if we were going to rent.

We ended up going with Men's warehouse. They have a few new styles that are more tailored and adult looking, which I prefer to the promish looking tuxes. The rentals were less than $100 for each guy and the groom was free. We have GM all over the country, and MW was much more accessible for all the guys. We have had a great experience so far.

We are going with a more regional vendor Al's Formal. They had a wider selection of tuxes to pick from and more colors they were also cheaper than MW for us.
