I signed the contract and paid the deposit this week on Tuesday. Since then I have not heard anything nor did they send the signed contract. Is that normal?

Since it's only been two days, I would wait a few more days for them to respond. If you don't hear back by Monday, I would reach out to ask them for a copy of the contract signed by both parties and also confirmation that they received your deposit.
