Two Cakes for Pics/cutting and Serving

I do want a really nice looking cake for pics / cutting, but I also want to serve one that’s absolutely delicious. I get that it could be both, but my experience has been that wedding cake taste kinda subpar… Our favorite cake is an Italian Creme Wedding Cake from one of our favorite local Italian restaurants. We’ve contacted the restaurant and they gave us the contact info of the lady that makes the cake and she’s agreed to make sheet cakes to serve to our guests for our wedding. I was thinking of having a pretty tiered display cake that’s mostly made of foam (except for a small part for cutting) and keep the sheet cake with the caterers to cut and serve for guests. Has anyone else done this?
