Two Different Hair and Makeup Artists

Christine , on January 18, 2018 at 11:21 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
I have 5 bridesmaids and planned to hire a freelance hair & makeup artist for my wedding day. I’d love to pamper all of my bridesmaids with hair and makeup for the wedding but I just don’t think one girl could handle hair and makeup for 6 of us on the wedding day. She estimates an hour and a half per girl and pictures would start at 2pm. Because of this I thought I’d hire a second freelance artist but was wondering if this would be weird or unusual for the artists? I’m having a hard time coming up with a better solution though and don’t really know how to address it with the hair and makeup girl.

I have 5 including myself, for my bridal party and I have a separate makeup and hair artist. Especially since we are doing a first look and trying to squeeze pics in before the ceremony we need them to have it done in time. I would just tell her that because of the timeline and the size of the bridal party you are more comfortable having more than one artist. She may have someone that works with her if you don't already have someone in mind.

I have 8 bridesmaids and then me... so I'm going for a team of mua. It's definitely not weird. There are some companies that offer a team of artists for wedding parties. Good luck.

Agree, let her try to figure it out first. Just hiring someone could hurt her feeling and cause bad blood. You don't need that with your MUA day of.

Have all of your 'girls' decided to buy hair and makeup? If not, then maybe the person can handle the ones that choose to do this. If you're requiring it, you'll have to pay.

There’s 10 of us and I’m paying for all. I just asked my HMUA if I should hire another team early on to accommodate everyone but she said she’ll just bring more people that she works with! There will be 4 of them. I’d just ask her since she may have people she would recommend that she already works with

Does your contract saying anything about hiring other people? We had two artists but the second was added by my initial stylist. She works closely with a small group and she keeps it in her contract that if other people are needed, they come from her.

Hi Christine! I'd definitely ask the vendor you have already contracted first if she can find a second artist to come with her, or if there are other vendors she works with regularly who would be good to reach out to!
