Two middle vs. two last names

Danielle, on January 7, 2020 at 1:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
I'm torn between what to do with my name. I have decided for sure I want to change my names to: First Middle Maiden MarriedLast. My question is WHAT TYPE of name my maiden name would be. I could make it part of my middle name (two total middle names) or make it part of my last name (two total last names).

Either way, I would have the same order of names, it's just a question of whether to have two middle or two last names. Input from those who have done either? What are the pros/cons of each choice? Is it a pain to have two last names? Does your maiden name still come up as part of your identity if it's just a middle?
Thanks! Smiley smile

I would have two middle names before having two last names. You rarely ever have to include your middle name(s) in things so having two last names would be more complicated in my opinion.

I did this, and made my maiden name a second middle name. I would think it would be VERY confusing to have 2 last names.

I think when people have 2 last names they hyphenate. It is common in certain cultures and also lots of professional people choose to hyphenate. I think there are benefits to both, whatever floats your boat.

I am planning on having two last names. I recommend writing out your name a few times with two last names and also with just your husband's last name. See which one you are feeling more.

I've worked with professionals who have two last names they never had issues. The ones who did have issues was because one of the last names could also be recognized as a first name. Also, if you decide on one way at first but are having issues, you can always switch it again. Good luck!
