Two Rules For Being In a Relationship

I was watching a clip from one of Chris Rock's comedy specials and he discussed two rules for being in a relationship:

1. Stop competing: Your success is your partners success and your partners success is your success.
2. There is no equality: Your both there to serve one another.

Do you agree with these rules? Why or why not?

I feel like #2 contradicts itself because if you are both serving each other then that is equal?

Stop competing is a big one! I also agree the second one is kind of contradictory. I think be honest and be kind are the two I would say. You should always be honest with your spouse but if you're not kind when you're honest they might not want to listen

I definitely agree with the first one. And I agree we are there to serve one another. IDK what equality or inequality has to do with that.

Perhaps he said inequality and I just didn't hear him clearly. I would like the video but it has really vulgar language and I don't want my discussion to be removed. You can find the video on Youtube though.
