Two wedding rings?

Amanda, on July 9, 2016 at 8:27 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

I've seen some photos online of women with 2 wedding rings with their engagement ring. Is there a reason or significance for having two wedding rings? I'm not talking about the ones where there are two identical bands flanking the engagement ring, I'm talking about ones that have two DIFFERENT bands (one is usually thinner, the other wider) in addition to the engagement ring. It's not just on jewelry listings, I've also seen it in wedding photographer's portfolios, so real brides are apparently doing this. I actually think it looks super cute, but I was wondering why there would be two wedding bands. See attached picture for what I mean.

I've seen it done but the situations that I knew of was where they had a band or ring that was Heirloom then they added to it.

Other than that, I've not heard of anyone doing this for a specific reason.

My coworker has this. She's doesn't have a reason other than "I wanted two." They look beautiful together, but I could barely justify the cost of my one wedding band.

I assumed they just liked the look of stacked bands.

    Beautiful image you attached!

I don't see any reason for having 2 wedding rings, but as said Karen it is an "upgrade".

I've seen what you're talking about where they have the same wedding band on both sides.. my FH talked about getting the same band for the top as a fifth anniversary gift or something more down the road. But I've never seen where there are two different bands. I agree with PPs, I think it's an upgrade type deal.

I've heard of adding small bands for each child I think.

I think it has to do with the ring stacking trend.

My mom had two, as well as her engagement ring. they all went together. she liked the idea of having an engagement ring that fit like a puzzle piece to her wedding ring, and the one she liked just happened to be 3 pieces

When I was married to my ex, I wore my e-ring, my wedding band and my grandmother's wedding band.

I've seen people do a promise ring, an engagement ring, and a wedding band stacked. But I've never seen the point of having a promise ring.

I have two but they're identical. I just chose them to be symmetrical but I do like the look of asymmetrical

Our jeweler had a "buy one get one free" sale, which is why I will have two. No significance.

My friend has two because she works with cattle. She takes off her engagement ring (which is gorgeous!) and the second wedding band acts as a replacement in the field. I haven't seen two different bands for situations other this one, though.

When my DH (gasp!) Went shopping for my engagement ring the jewelers told him he should look for an engagement, wedding band, and 1st year anniversary band. Apparently that is the new trend.

Sometimes one band is a "push" present.

I've heard of women getting an anniversary band later on, but the only people I know who wear those are women who have been married a long time. My mom has one that she wears on special occasions. She would have gotten it sometime past her and my dad's 20th anniversary since I am remembering her receiving it.

I’m having 2 weddings, so we want a band to represent each ceremony.

I’m having 2 weddings, so we wanted a band to represent each ceremony. Technically I will have 3 bands, the 3rd is the travel ring.
