Two weddings due to covid

Eliza, on June 6, 2020 at 1:33 PM Posted in Account Support 0 16
Hi ladies! Our big wedding had to be postponed multiple times due to COVID, but we chose to elope on our original date! We found an officiant who was willing to marry us last minute! It was amazing 🥰 Our big wedding is still on for next year, so now I have a year to relax and slowly plan for the big one. My officiant for the elopement would like me to publish my elopement, and while I would love to do that, will it affect my ability to publish the big wedding next year? Will I be able to create another wedding on Weddingwire? Two weddings due to covid 1

Congrats! Your dress is absolutely beautiful. As far as creating another site on weddingwire, I don't think you can. I had a site awhile back with my ex that I never ended up using but now every time I go back to the wedding website tab, it bring up the old one and I can't find anywhere to remove/edit. It just gives me an error. I got annoyed so I just used a different platform to make a new wedding website.

Oh not the wedding website, I have my website on minted lol. I meant since I have vendors for both weddings chosen on Weddingwire, will it only publish the photos of one “real wedding” affiliated with those vendors?

Oh! My mistake. That's a good question. Now I have no answer for you lol but I will follow just to see if this gets answered because I might have to travel down the same road.

We did the same thing - eloped on our original date and pushed our wedding/reception back a full year.

When you mean "publish" your elopement, what are you referring to? Just putting out an announcement about it? You can pretty much do that anywhere and I can't think of any restrictions on any platform that wouldn't allow you to then share the news of your bigger event in the future.

We used The Knot for our wedding website so just changed the date on our website to our new date and added a section to "Our Story" acknowledging that we eloped. We aren't trying to hide the fact that we are married. We aren't using WW for our website, so I left our elopement date on here to show that we actually got married. So now the counter on WW shows how long we've been married and the counter on The Knot shows how much time until our new wedding date. I don't think there is a way to hold two dates on a single wedding platform site.

Side note: Are you wearing your dress for your second wedding next year? I'm planning to wear the same dress so going back and forth about whether or not to share photos from the wedding. I kind of want it to be a surprise for our guests, but also want to share the photos. I'd love your insight on that topic here: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/eloped-but-still-planning-wedding-to-share-photos-or-not/e0ef0bbca87111f4.html. Your dress is GORGEOUS by the way. LOVE that photo!

Thanks!! So there’s an option on Weddingwire that allows you to “publish your real wedding” so that other couples can view all your wedding photos, and it links to your vendors so that if a couple is looking to hire that vendor, they can view the real weddings that they were part of. My big wedding (rescheduled to next year) will be in San Diego, and I have vendors already selected on here for that wedding. My elopement was in Las Vegas where I live, and I only had one vendor from here. I just wasn’t sure if the “real wedding” feature will link up all of my vendors, but SD and LV. I still want to be able to publish my big wedding in the future, and I wasn’t sure if it was a one time thing.

As for the dress, it’s kind of a long story, but I have 2 wedding dresses, and I’ll be wearing both to the big one lol! The one I wore to the elopement is my original dress that I fell in and out of love with during alterations, but it was ready to wear on our original date. The second dress is my dream dress that I found on stillwhite for $350! I was bored during quarantine and did a little shopping lol! Since my husband has seen me in dress #1, I’m going to surprise him with dress #2 on the big wedding and then change into dress #1 for the reception!

Oh that's awesome. Sorry I can't be of more help with the publishing thing (I have no idea), but I got my dress on StillWhite too and LOVE it! That's so exciting that you have a second dress to wear. I'm toying with the idea of getting a reception dress (so I have a surprise look for my husband for wedding #2) but am pretty sure I'll still wear the same dress for the ceremony, because I love it so much. If I got a second dress it would be more modern and wearable and better for the reception anyway.

I hope your second wedding is amazing!

    How beautiful... congrats!!!!

Just wondering… You’re going to do a celebration a year later. Given that it’s so far away, are you going to consider that a one year anniversary renewal? Or do you plan to count that as your “wedding”?
We’re currently scheduled for this October. But, as time passes, I feel like we’ll unfortunately have to implement our Plan B option— which is to get married legally with just the two of us on our original date 10/10. Then next October we’ll do everything we originally planned. However my thought was to make it a fun 1 year anniversary celebration and renewal (since we’d already be married for a year). Given the pandemic, it would be a nice a one year anniversary, especially after making it through this crazy Covid storm. 😖
Just wondering what your plans are for presenting next year’s celebration to your guests. As a wedding or as an anniversary renewal?

Thanks!! We’re planning to have it close to our anniversary date, so it’ll definitely be an anniversary celebration, but we’re still going to go through with the wedding ceremony as planned! When we eloped, we just did generic vows that the officiant wrote for us because we wanted to save our written vows for the big wedding! I was thinking for our “change the dates,” we’ll put something like “we said ‘I do,’ now this time with you!” ☺️ Good luck with the wedding planning! Hopefully things will work out and this covid nightmare will pass 🤞🏼

Gotcha! That makes sense.... and the quote for your “change the date” is really cute!!! If we end up doing an anniversary celebration next October, we’re also going to do a full ceremony as originally planned. I’ve seen couples on here get married on their original date, but they only pushed the celebration out a few months. So reading about yours being pushed an entire year (like we would do) was helpful to hear about. Congrats again!!!
