Typo on already sent out invites

Rachel, on August 14, 2019 at 12:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 22
So last night I get a text from my future mother in law about how my FHs last name is misspelled on the invite. I’m frustrated that I didn’t check this before I sent them out. Can someone please tell me it’s not a big deal and there’s nothing I can do to change this? Smiley sad

Well you sent them so you can't change it. It's annoying now but someday you'll look back and have a laugh about it

I spelled my fiance's middle name wrong on the invitation! The best part? HE DIDN'T CATCH IT WHEN HE PROOFREAD THEM. And neither did his father or oldest sister. His mother noticed it a few days after she got it. I didn't care and neither did he, it was a silly mistake. I would just make sure it's correct on the website & all future thank you cards sent out. We opted not to do "details" shots of our invites because of the typo, so you might want to skip those too.

Unfortunately, they've already been mailed so it's out of your control now. I think it can be a funny story someday!

I don't think many people will notice honestly. Your human, we all make mistakes! Try not to stress about it too much.

I just realized this week I never put a zip code on our invite for the venue address 🤦🏼‍♀️ You can’t do anything about it! It was a oops! Worse things could’ve happened. You could’ve spelled his first name wrong 🤣

All you can do now is laugh about, it's not a big deal, don't fret about it too much. There are so many big things happen in your life, a tiny spelling error is forgivable and will be forgotten before you know it

Please don’t be too hard on yourself—it happens to the best of us! As someone who also made a typo that wasn’t caught until invites are sent I appreciate this thread 😂😅 I have a communications degree, read over the invites for a week, had FH & my parents proof read them too and that still wasn’t enough 😭 stress causes us to do stupid things, and if you guys didn’t notice it until after the fact maybe that means that most guests won’t notice it either.

Don’t stress about it. It really is a small detail. There are so many things to worry about, don’t let this be one more.

I knew a girl who accidentally spelled her OWN name wrong on her registry. She had to tell everyone because then people weren’t able to search her unless they misspelled it correctly lol. It happens.

This fits into my attitude about weddings generally. There are two things that happen at weddings. One is that things go perfectly. The other is that you have a great story to tell your grandchildren, particularly if it's followed by, "And in spite of all that, we've been happily married for fifty years."

It's not a huge deal! It's something you can laugh about later. Smiley smile I forgot to put "Reception to follow" on mine and at first, was all nervous people would just think that we were having a ceremony without anything else and wouldn't come lol. My mom suggested to put it on the details card so that's what I'm planning on doing. Also, we're getting married in February, and I almost spelled that wrong. Thankfully, I saw it before I pressed "order".... Idk how many times I've Googled February in the last few months to make sure anything personalized with the month isn't misspelled! haha

I don’t think this is a mistake at all. Zip codes are typically only used when actually mailing something. A lot of invites only include city and state (How I did mine.) and all the others I’ve seen just list the address. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a zip listed on an invite. You get a free pass on this one!

Most people probably won’t even look at it that much in detail to notice it’s spelled wrong. We see things spelled wrong all the time, but our mind just corrects it. There’s nothing you can do about it now. If it were me, I would blame my FH for not seeing it! No one’s perfect, and if this is the worst thing that happens in your wedding, you’re pretty lucky!
