Do you have any creative ideas for dealing with ugly carpeting at a venue that will clash with your colors ?

Honestly , I know most people wont notice... but I definitely know what you mean. I actually passed up a few venues BECAUSE I couldn't stand their carpet... lol

But again, I highly doubt that your guests will notice.

I know where you're coming from. This is actually why I didn't book a ballroom for my reception. I couldn't stand the carpet. However, I've never noticed the carpet at a wedding. I can't even begin to tell you what the floor looked like at any of the weddings I've attended. Like PPs have suggested, you can draw the eye upward with your decor. But even if you don't, I really doubt anyone will notice or care.

The carpet was one of the things I looked at. We left one venue because of it.

One venue I loved had carpet that looked like a casino floor. I loved everything else but I couldn't do that venue because of the floor. I disagree that nobody will notice--they will. I'll never understand why venues don't do a solid neutral! Pick a complimenting color maybe?

This is a real mystery to me; I think they all get their carpeting from the same "Ugly venue carpeting that will hide spilled wine, dropped pigs in a blanket and flying frosting." They are all awful.

But once you get tables, tableclothes, chairs, humans and lighting involved, no one will notice.

I feel like once you set up all the decor and lighting, it will be hardly noticeable. I've seen some hideous venues that look unsalvageable but then with some good lighting/decor, they look stunning. Hopefully you're able to do this! Good luck Smiley smile

My venue's carpet wasn't ugly per se, but it was a very bold pattern and I was a little worried about it. I just made sure my color scheme didn't clash horribly with the venue color scheme, and otherwise total ignored it. Once you get tables and people in there no one will notice, and you know, even if they do notice, no one will hold it against you, especially if they are having a great time with good people, music, food, and drinks. Go through some pictures your venue lists on their website and see if the carpet jumps out at you in any of them, I bet it is hardly noticeable.

I can't tell you the color of the carpeting or any of the flooring for that matter at ANY of the weddings or large events like that that I've attended. Don't make a bigger deal of it especially if it's an evening affair and the lights will be dim anyway.

Thanks for the funny comments and great advice!! . I was considering uplighting but I'll make it a must at this point. And always wanted the dim lighting ... I seem to have more fun when the lights are dim . Lol!

Can you put a white sheet or run way over top of it?

I can almost guarantee you next to no one will remember your centerpieces six months after your wedding....its pretty definite that no one will even notice the carpet unless you bring it up

Unless it's a 70s plaid carpet like my doctor's office, I doubt anyone will notice.
