They are not the color or the style of my wedding at all. I am at a loss as to what to do. I have been try to think of ways to paste something over the ugliest part. Any suggestions would be helpful. I don't want to hurt her feelings. (I think I will just be using the RSVPs to send Thank You notes.)

I would NOT just "not use them" either use them or have a conversation about it.. Because this isn't something you can just "forget" and how will she feel if you don't say anything but then she gets an entirely different invite in the mail? That would hurt her feelings more than having a conversation.

I was hoping there'd be an answer to my question by now...

Do people not realize that you can buy blank invitation sets at places like Staples and Michaels that you personalize by running through your own printer? Not all invitations need to be custom ordered or professionally printed. That's what these look like.

OP, I agree they are ugly but aside from that, it was not her place to choose invitations. You aren't obligated to use them. You can simply tell her that you preferred another option that was closer to your style and wedding colors.

That's so weird for her to do that. I'd just be honest and say you wanted to go in different direction and you're grateful she was excited enough to do that.

@Emily I didn't know that was a thing. But OP still hasn't come back to confirm what the exact situation is, so it would really help to know if these have been personalized or not yet.

If they are blank cards that need to be printed off, I don't see any issue with telling her that you want to go to a different direction and using these for something else (maybe the bridal shower if you're having one).

Just don't use them. Use them for something else like your bridal shower.

Why do people put us brides in these situations?!

It's so nice of her to be excited for your wedding and want to help out, but I have no clue why she didn't think that picking out your invitations is very personal and something the bride and groom should always do. I would be honest. I know it's tough but this isn't your fault. You are not being ungrateful, you just expected to pick these out yourself.

For the record, they are not that bad. I completely get where you're coming from though.

I don't think they're ugly. But if you truly don't like them, I would tell her it wasnt what you imagined and find something else.
